Superior Boats

Superior Group began as a company specialising in boat repairs. From there, the company expanded its service offerings through the innovative use of fibreglass technologies and creative design. Superior is not just a brand but also an attitude and commitment to being superior in design, delivery, and cost.

South Auckland Boat Repairs (SABR), established in 1986 by Sam Dorotich, emerged from his passion and love for boats and the marine industry. Starting in his parent's garage in Manurewa, the business grew quickly with contract work from Markline Boats, leading to the hiring of a team and moving to rented premises in Manurewa.

In 1988, Sam purchased land on Holmes Road where a purpose-built, high-studded factory with gantry units for lifting boats was established. SABR was fully operational at this site by 1991. As the business grew, a second workshop was built in 1995 for production laminating, allowing contract boat building and laminating services for various boat building companies, as well as fibreglass moulds and repairs.

The company began manufacturing its own range of boats under the affiliated company Superior Boats. Signature boats include the Superior FB1050, Superior SC1050, and more recently the Superior 1050 SS and the new Superior 1200 SS models.

Superior Group has diversified with the launch of Superior Shuttles 'CATS' - a hybrid of Canopy and Trailer manufactured from fibreglass moulds with fully lockable trailers.
