Deep-V aluminium hulls

The feature XO says sets it apart is the ultimate driving experience delivered by its deep-V aluminium hull, which gives the boats the characteristics of high-quality, professional maritime vessels. XO Crossover boats combine a deep-V hull manufactured of what the company calls the best military-grade aluminium on the market with aesthetic design enabled by state-of-the-art fibreglass. Aluminium is rigid, durable and extremely light, does not require constant maintenance, and — as an alloy that can be fortified with other metals — offers a performance level the company compares to advanced steels and titanium. European regulations classify aluminium as category A1, the highest possible rank for fire safety.

A forerunner in sustainability

XO frames aluminium as a sustainable material: up to 75% of all aluminium ever produced is still in use, and remelting pre-used aluminium requires only about 5% of the energy needed to produce the same amount of new metal. At the end of their exceptionally long life, aluminium boats can be fully recycled at very low energy cost. The company says it has known about these qualities for many years and believes itself to be an industry leader as aluminium gains wider acceptance as a production material, and states that preserving nature and the Baltic Sea matters to how it designs and builds.
