Overview
About this vessel
Discover "NAN", a historic classic motor yacht designed by the renowned American naval architect Ed Monk Sr. as Plan No. 1. This prestigious vessel, a unique one-of-a-kind, served Ed Monk and his family for many years as a home and architectural office. "NAN" is a multiple award-winning yacht, winning first place in the International Cruisers Race in 1946 and further placements through 1956, receiving recognition from the Classic Yacht Association between 2000 and 2005. In American ownership until 2006, "NAN" was subsequently transported by deck freight to Germany, where it has since attracted attention in every harbour and played a leading role in two German television documentaries (ARD and 3Sat, 2020 and 2021).
Upon entering the vessel, the extraordinary craftsmanship and care with which it was built and maintained by its previous owners on both sides of the Atlantic immediately impress. The Monk family's wooden shipbuilding tradition, spanning generations, is evident in the use of the finest materials, which have preserved "NAN" in excellent condition to this day. Over time, the vessel has been continuously restored, upgraded and maintained in renowned shipyards, preserving its nearly original lustre. The entire interior remains in original condition. Extensive interior renovations were carried out in 2009 and 2017, while exterior restorations in 2009, 2017 and most recently 2021 totalled over €300,000.
