Overview
About this vessel
Marmetta was designed by Philip L. Rhodes of New York City. She was built by the Blanchard Boat Company of Seattle, Washington, and is, to all intents and purposes, a larger edition of Rhodes 27. The layout and general profile are the same, but the extra two feet of waterline length have been used to obtain a slightly larger boat.
Marmetta is planked with Port Orford Cedar with Everdur fastenings, originally had Kordless standing rigging and Merriman hardware. Her motor was replaced in 1959 with a Mercedes OM 636 VI-E diesel engine mounted aft under the cockpit. She carries seventy gallons of fuel and one hundred gallons of water.
The accommodations consist of a two-berth stateroom with plenty of storage space forward, followed by a head to port and hanging lockers to starboard. Aft of this is the main cabin, which is equipped with a built-in berth with extension transom on the port side and a setteé berth on the starboard side. A conveniently arranged galley is located aft to port, while a chart table and storage space are to starboard.
Recent upgrades include 2026 house, decks and interior painting, varnish and finishes; 2024 bottom paint and recaulking; 2023 complete new electrical with AGM and gel deep cycle batteries and Victron battery monitor and charger; 2021 topside paint; 2018 complete rigging replacement; 2013 topside reef and seams recaulking, new engine beds and frame repairs; 2008 fiberglass cabin top replacement and caulking with complete sealing and waterproofing.
