Millkraft 30 Sharpie
Overview
About this vessel
Lucille is a 31 foot raised deck sharpie Milkcraft 30 with a great service history and over $50,000.00 spent on maintenance and restoration. The hull is built with spotted gum with the underside redone in ply Dyner overlaid inside and out.
Originally built in 1945 by Ted Mills as owner builder along with Stuart Watson and Terry, Don and George Kretchman, all of them professionally trained boat builders for Watson Wright boat builders. She was launched in 1946 as the first of many boats built by Milkcraft boats. In 1987, Lucille was purchased and refurbished by Allan Watson using the original survey drawings with no expense spared. At this time the Ford Lees engine was also fully restored. In 1996, Lucille was purchased by Chris and Jacqui Brown, and the engine was replaced with a refurbished Ford Lehman engine in August of that year. In October 2007, Lucille was rebuilt from the keel up to the waterline by Craig Fielding, with planking replaced by double ply sheeting glued and screwed and Dyner sheathed inside and out. The boat was repainted and new fuel tanks were installed.
