Sparkman & Stephens 37

Maria Van Dieman is a Gaia class S&S 37 from the Sparkman and Stephens design stable. This design was the basis for the venerable Swan 36. She is constructed of strip planked Huon Pine, copper nailed on laminated Spotted Gum frames, and Epoxy fibreglassed sheathed. All hull fastenings are copper/bronze and floor frames and keel bolts are silicone bronze.

She still presents in good condition. She has competed in three Sydney to Hobart yacht races and is still capable of a lot more miles. If you are interested in classic yachts she is worthy of inspection, and her design pedigree means she will still hold her own against more modern yachts.
