About this vessel
MAVERICK is one of the finest Formosa 41s in existence. This yacht has had a keel up restoration and virtually everything new or refurbished.
She is beautiful and the work's been done! Total re-fit since 2014. The owners, planned to never sell her, however, plans changed. She was in the yard for almost two years while everything was replaced or upgraded, including all woodwork, masts, boom and bow sprit, new Sampson posts, new keel steps, new teak deck caulking, new wiring, new plumbing, rebuilt engine. All original boat systems have been improved, replaced or rebuilt and much new equipment has been added to the boat's inventory.

The remaking of MAVERICK began in 2014. The owner's goal was to put the boat into bristol condition and prepare for comfortable live-aboard and local sailing. Every system was evaluated, upgraded or replaced, and then proven. All upgrades, equipment purchases and material decisions were based on their contribution to quality of life, ease of maintenance and beauty. The extremely knowledgeable and talented owner used only top quality products throughout the boat insuring her integrity and seaworthiness.
Although the refit has been completed, the owner had another opportunity overseas and had to say goodbye to this beautiful boat. it is the good fortune of her next owner. MAVERICK is turn key ready for you to start to enjoy her now.
All of the interior teak, including cabin sole, has been refinished and all of the cabin interior painted surfaces have been freshly painted with tasteful designer colors. The salon and upper dining area have all new cushions and leather upholstery. Two beautifully carved teak doors grace the salon for entrance to the head and master stateroom.
The dragon and phoenix carvings in the salon are ancient symbols of good fortune! There is a storage/workroom all the way forward. The unique master stateroom is to starboard with a double pullman berth. There is excellent and abundant storage and hanging locker.s throughout the boat. Fold up table under mirror across from bed is perfect for morning coffee.
Full head to port with separate stall shower and plenty of ventilation.
The main salon features twin settees that provide extra berths or comfortable seating for the whole crew. Behind the settees are bookshelves, lockers and drawers for storage. Step up to dining area to port and galley to starboard.
Galley is to starboard of companionway. It features a Princess 3 burner propane stove and oven with maple cutting board cover, new custom ceramic basin sink with new stainless steel commercial faucet and new Iso Therm refrigerator/freezer and plenty of storage including space for spices and condiments. Galley location near companionway provides excellent ventillation and easy access to cockpit crew.
Midships, has 6'-4" headroom and includes port and starboard settees, each with two louvered-door storage cabinets, three large drawers and a large shelf. Hand-carved Chinese art panels are located on the two saloon doors and overhead beams. Teak bulkheads and white paneling. Teak butterfly skylight provides abundant illumination and ventilation option. Each settee pulls out to provide a large comfortable berth. Cushioning for all berths and settees throughout the boat is high quality closed cell foam with ne white Italian leather.
Located forward and to starboard with a large double pullman berth and private entry to head and shower. To port is a fold-up vanity table with large mirror and a large hanging locker. Linen lockers, shelves and drawers provide ample storage. Four portholes, and a sliding overhead hatch, provide light and ventilation.
Unfinished storage room with large hanging locker and access to the forepeak through two louvered teak doors which access ground tackle. A large overhead hatch provides access to the foredeck, light and ventilation. Can be converted into additional sleeping area.
On the port side is an enclosed head and separate shower stall accessible from either the main saloon or master cabin. The head includes a new Lavac toilet with new pump, basin with hot and cold water and several storage shelves. A y-valve enables the head to be easily converted from overboard to holding tank conditions while in port. In the enclosed shower, a hot and cold-water showerhead and fixed tap are installed. A separate shower sump and electrically operated sump pump allows shower discharge directly overboard.
Interior lighting is ample, and includes LED strip in the dinette, galley and main saloon and brass kerosene wall-lamps in the salon.

Hull is hand lay-up one-piece reinforced fiberglass construction, with mat and woven roving and newly Awlgripped exterior. Full displacement keel has 9200 lb internal cast iron ballast.
Deck is made of one-piece molded fiberglass, 3/8-inch thick over and under, with two plies of 3/8-inch marine grade plywood core. Both main and afterdecks are overlaid with teak bedded in thiokol. Cabin roof and sides have natural finish teak joiner work trim, with teak grab rails P/S on the cabin roof. Teak toe rail, stern rail and cap rail with custom Chinese paintings. Self-draining cockpit with removable teak grating sole.

New Morse single-lever engine control, throttle and drive in cockpit. Stainless steel rod lifelines through stainless steel stanchions ending and attached to stainless steel bow pulpit frame with teak platform. P/S hawser holes and cleats fore and aft. Steering pedestal has new teak wheel. Emergency tiller system in cockpit.
All interior woodwork, tables, moldings, cabinets, lockers, doors and railing are teak with natural hand-rubbed finish, accented with white paneling. All ports made of naval bronze. Cabin sole is mahogany over 1/2-inch marine plywood underlayment. 110V AC circuit for dockside power, and two AC outlets in each cabin.
Generous storage, with more than 35 lockers, drawers and shelves to port and starboard throughout the vessel.
All cockpit seats have brand new teak lids that access ample storage with one converted to a drinks ice box. Access to battery box and steering quadrant/cables for easy inspection. The pedestal is mounted in a recessed area where helmsman can stand or sit. The cockpit seating can accommidate seven people comfortably.
The engine is a 48-horsepower, 4-cylinder Perkins 4-108 diesel, with a Borg-Warner Velvet-drive transmission (with babbett bearing) driving a new 16" bronze three-bladed propeller. The engine is fitted with a new alternator. Fuel consumption approximately 1.0 gph at 4.5 knots in calm conditions. New fuel tank, deck filled and air vented, has dual Racor filter, and holds approximately 90 gallons of diesel fuel. Easy accessibility to sound-reduced engine room.
Water capacity is approximately 120 gallons, in two 60-gallon s/s tanks located beneath the P/S settees in the main saloon. Both are deck-filled and air-vented and can be used in combination or shut off individually. Water pressure is provided by a pressure pump system. The 6 gallon Seaward hot water heater provides hot water throughout.
A high-capacity automatic Rule 500 bilge pump with float switch is located in the bilge and attached to a 1-1/2-inch hose to provide pump out. An Edson high-capacity manual diaphragm bilge pump is available for emergencies in the cockpit.
Instruments in cockpit area include engine oil pressure, oil pressure alert, engine temperature, tachometer gauges and fuel-gauge.
