Overview

About this vessel

‘Rival Venture’ is a good example of the capable offshore cruising yacht that is the Rival 34. Built in 1975 by Southern Boatbuilding Ltd to a Peter Brett design, she has been in the same hands since 2001. During this time, she has sailed extensively around UK waters and is now looking for new custodians to take her on further voyages. Although original, the inboard Volvo offers reliability and economy. Down below is comfortable and offers berths for 6 persons over the fore cabin and saloon. Vessel currently ashore.

Vessel is powered by an inboard Volvo MD2 inboard diesel engine. This 18hp workhorse is situated beneath the removable companionway steps allowing access for daily checks and servicing. The engine is well maintained and has an annual service. This was completed shortly before lift out. Single lever engine control inset into cockpit mouldings. Engine start panel mounted beneath the companionway entrance in cockpit with rev counter, fuel gauge and visual and audible lights for oil pressure, water temperature and charging. Reduction gearbox driving a stainless steel shaft with 3-bladed bronze propeller. Propeller shaft is protected by a moulded skeg. Full set of engine spares including alternator.

12/240V systems on board with bank of 2x12V batteries providing engine start and domestic power. The 12V side was rewired in 2016 with new switch panels and gauges installed. 240V power available when connected to pontoon electrics via a shore power cable. 3-Pin sockets at galley and chart table. Battery isolator switch.
