Overview

About this vessel

The 1980 Morgan 382 is a well-regarded cruising sailboat designed by Ted Brewer and built by Morgan Yachts. The 382 strikes a strong balance between performance and cruising comfort. Built during the era when boats were often overbuilt, the Morgan 382 has a solid fiberglass hull with strong structural integrity and are regarded as being tough and seaworthy — many have crossed oceans. Built with a Fin keel and skeg-hung rudder giving it a good mix of maneuverability and tracking.

Here are some notable benefits of the Morgan 382. Performs well upwind, especially for a cruising boat — decent PHRF rating (~114–120). Balanced helm and relatively fast for its class. Traditional but functional layout — spacious salon, U-shaped galley, nav station, V-berth forward, and a roomy quarter berth. Teak trim and wood interior add to the classic charm. 6'2" headroom in most of the cabin = very livable. Excellent access to engine and systems, which makes maintenance easier. Many owners have taken the Morgan 382 on serious blue water voyages — a testament to its capability as a liveaboard or cruiser.

Accommodations: At the base of the companionway is the Galley on the port side. Immediately to port is the forward facing Navigation Desk. A good sized quarter berth is aft of the desk with privacy curtain. The Salon is configured with an L shaped dining / settee area to port. To starboard is a long bench seat with an upholstered sea berth behind. There is a fixed table with leaves and storage drawers slightly offset to port allowing for easy access forward.
