Overview

About this vessel

A TRUE EXPEDITION STYLE MOTOR CRUISER, CAPABLE OF CROSSING OCEANS! MAJOR UPGRADES AND PAST REFIT WORK! Originally purpose-built as a charter fishing vessel in Tasmania's rugged Tasman Peninsula region, operating Southern Tasmanian waters, she was then refitted around 2005 as a comfortable cruising motor yacht. A new owner in 2014 upgraded the vessel again to suit his needs in completing a successful circumnavigation of Australia, where it was then sold in late 2018, with the previous owner undertaking a similar circumnavigation but from East to West on this second occasion. Again, many improvements have been made, particularly with the presentation, overall attention to detail and improvements to finishes, but is still fully equipped to go anywhere once again. Bungaree has benefited further from continuous professional maintenance and operates beautifully.

Bungaree benefits from enormous pedigree, with her lines penned by Muirs of Hobart, well powered by twin 220hp Cummins diesel engines providing a very comfortable and economical cruising speed of 7.5-8 knots, an excellent electrical system with 11 kva Onan genset, Victron inverters, and very complete 12-volt electronics including current Raymarine plotters. Watertight bulkheads were also part of her original construction and are retained today.

The interior features a very large saloon with access from the aft cockpit/deck area. A lovely and deep Tasmanian timber table is capable of seating 8 or more and sits opposite a very functional galley with a large fridge and freezer, a full 4-burner stove, a convection microwave and enormous storage. Additional cold storage with a fridge and freezer can be found beneath the lower pilot berth in the wheelhouse, making this vessel ideal for extended cruising. Forward of the saloon is the wheelhouse, which has doors on both sides for easy access to the side decks; these are sensibly wide and provide very good access all around the boat. The wheelhouse is well-appointed with current Raymarine electronics, engine management displays, plus excellent seating for those long passages. Two pilot berths are also in the wheelhouse for the crew when underway.

The lower level houses the accommodation with 4 separate double berth cabins, 2 of which feature additional single berths, providing a total of 10 berths. A very large separate shower room sits to starboard with full-height standing headroom or an option to sit. The lower head is to port and is very well finished to smart domestic standards, making all feel perfectly comfortable.

Off the aft deck and a few steps down to the swim/boarding platform, great dinghy davits make handling the large aluminium (centre console) tender simple. The cockpit is a spacious, uncluttered area and benefits from an oversized self-draining icebox and access to the day head is found just around the corner on the starboard side, featuring a toilet and vanity - perfect for those in wet swimsuits or while busy with water-based activities. The upper flybridge makes for a brilliant, large entertaining and relaxing area with full bimini cover and second helm station, featuring teak outdoor furniture to make the most of the outdoors lifestyle and perfect for the warmer anchorages.

The decks are wide and safe to move around, thanks to high bulwarks and plenty of handholds, ultimately leading to the Portuguese bridge forward. The foredeck makes for a great operating space, featuring a hydraulic pot hauler, hydraulic Spectrum Engineering windlass and two large storage bins for lines and deck gear.

This impressive vessel is designed as a serious offshore motor yacht; its heritage and recent upgrades, with excellent maintenance, provide comfort in the knowledge that it is capable of crossing oceans. Its enormous volume and spacious interior mean coastal, extended cruising and the use as a liveaboard are ideal applications, but for those who desire to go further for longer, Bungaree is the perfect tool.
