Overview

About this vessel

'Tinushi' is a great example of the highly desirable Contessa 32, a cruiser/racer built by Jeremy Rogers to a David Sadler design. This is a 1981 model and has been upgraded tastefully over her 44 year history. Those who come to view will be pleased with her condition. The appealing points are her original white gelcoat topsides, her epoxied underwater hull and the reliable 20hp Beta marine diesel. Big ticket items such as replacement standing rigging, foresail replaced with a Sanders roller furling genoa and the introduction of a Garmin colour chart plotter and AIS transceiver all add value. Engine undergoes an annual service early season. 'Tinushi' is one of the best Contessa 32 models being offered on the market today.

Vessel powered by a reliable and economical BETA BD722 inboard diesel engine. The engine was installed in 1999. She has been well maintained and has completed ???? serviced hours. Most recent service in March 2025. Reduction gearbox driving a 2-bladed fixed propeller protected by skeg. Engine start panel in saloon at chart table with rev counter, oil pressure, temperature and voltage gauges as well as visual and audible warnings. Single lever engine control mounted in cockpit.

Bank of 2X12V batteries fitted with a rotary style isolator. The batteries are recharged via the engine alternator or the onboard smart battery charger/shore power unit. Battery monitor installed. Shore power cable.

Masthead, sloop rigged yacht with keel stepped anodised aluminium spars. Stainless steel standing rigging with wheel style back stay tensioner. Standing rigging replaced in 2019. Terylene running rigging, with the majority led aft to helm. Coachroof mounted halyard winches, cockpit mounted genoa sheet and spinnaker halyard winches. Boom mounted Quantum mainsail with reefing points. Sail Cover and boot in smart navy blue to match sprayhood and dodgers. Roller furling headsail system sail system by Harken. New Sanders 130% Dacron furling genoa with UV strip, purchased November 2020 ready for 2021/22 season. Other sails include a spare genoa and spinnaker. Spinnaker pole mounted on deck.

Below decks can sleep 5/6 persons over the saloon and forward cabin. The yacht is entered via the companionway and has full standing headroom at the main hatch. To starboard is the chart table/navigation area with instruments, switch panel and engine start panel. There is a comfortable pilot berth situated here and ideal for storing bedding when not in use. Opposite chart table is the renovated galley featuring stainless steel sink with hand pumped fresh water, gas oven and cool box. Forward of the galley is a U-shaped seating area with central table. This area converts to a double. Opposite is another settee/berth. Excellent storage below and behind the seating. Forward of the saloon bulkhead is a heads compartment to port and a hanging locker to starboard. Heads features a sea toilet and moulded sink unit with vanity unit above. Forward cabin with double berth and opening roof hatch. The forward cabin and heads can be made private by a sliding wooden door. 12V lighting throughout.

The Contessa 32 was introduced following the success of the ever-popular Contessa 26. The boat was again produced using the successful David Sadler/Jeremy Rogers partnership and was first revealed to the boating public in early 1973. Such was the success that demand outstripped production very quickly and to alleviate the already growing 2-year waiting list, bigger premises were obtained. Over 700 of these fantastic yachts were produced and thanks to an active "Owners Association" which organises races and social events, these boats are still desirable today. The popularity is due to their beautiful lines, performance in light winds and the safety offered in a tempest. While they may lack the creature comforts of their modern French-built cousins, the Contessa 32 has a lot to offer as an offshore cruiser/racer. GRP constructed yacht with original white flowcoat topsides with smart navy blue decoration and white coach roof. 1.68M draft fin keel with skeg mounted rudder and tiller steering. Underwater areas were epoxied as a preventative measure in 2008. She has 2041 kgs ballast giving ballast ratio of 47% making her excellent in a blow. Deep self bailing cockpit with sail locker to port and to the rear. Teak slatted locker tops and teak grate in cockpit sole. Stainless steel bow and stern rails joined by stanchions and guardwires. Raised accommodation deck with four port lights either side and two opening deck hatches for ventilation. Teak capping rails around bulwark and transom. Teak grab rails on cochroof. Side decks and coach roof painted in moulded white non slip. Stainless steel stem head fitting with roller. Anchor locker with lid and stainless steel anchor chain hawse cover. Foredeck mooring cleats with hawser holes.
