Overview

About this vessel

The Pearson 530 Center Console Ketch is the largest yacht built by the legendary boatbuilder that pioneered fiberglass boats. First built in 1981, she is a classic William Shaw design built by Pearson Yachts. Pearson Yachts was incorporated in 1958 by cousins, Clinton and Everett Pearson, who began experimenting with fiberglass boat building in 1953. Pearson gained quick success as a high production builder of affordable, quality family-oriented sailboats in Bristol, RI.

After a 12-year stint with the Sparkman & Stevens Naval Architects & Marine Engineers firm, Bill Shaw joined Pearson Yachts in 1964 as Chief Naval Architect and ran the entire Pearson Yacht division after Grumman Allied Industries bought controlling interest in the company. During his tenure with Pearson Yachts, Pearson became a world-renowned leader in the boat-building industry for quality fiberglass cruising and racing sailboats, and Bill Shaw was recognized with numerous awards.

BEST REVENGE is a world-class, bluewater cruising yacht, that is one of Bill Shaw's largest and most luxurious designs for Pearson Yachts during the 1980s. Only a few were produced between 1981 to 1985, and this 1981 Pearson 53 Ketch was completely updated and upgraded to "like new" in 2020. She is "built like a tank" of solid fiberglass to perform and endure, and sails beautifully with her powerful staysail ketch rigging—the Pearson 53 is one of the safest offshore sailing vessels in her class. The ketch rig keeps the sail size reasonable, allowing an experienced couple or shorthanded crew to handle her, and provides numerous combinations for different wind/sea conditions. The Pearson 53 features in-mast furling mainsail, roller furling jib, staysail, and self-tacking staysail. The taller main and mizzen are rigged independently for serious offshore cruising. The centerboard is raked back, rather than vertical, when fully extended; BEST REVENGE features a dependable Yanmar diesel engine with folding propeller in a walk-in engine room.

BEST REVENGE is ideal for extended coastal cruising or ocean crossings, and as a liveaboard with capacious living areas and custom 2 queen staterooms/2 heads with showers layout, wet bar, generator, air-conditioning, Bose stereo system and flatscreen TV. Beautiful teak joinery adds classic luster to the interior. The spacious topside center cockpit features plenty of comfortable seating to relax or entertain—sunset cocktails, al fresco meals, sunning on deck.
