Sea Ranger 55 Displacement Trawler
Overview
About this vessel
If you've been chasing a solid, honest live-aboard trawler with the right bones, this Sea Ranger 55 is well worth a look. Built tough and heavy, she's everything you'd expect from a proper displacement cruiser -- stable at sea, roomy inside, and built to go the distance.
She's powered by a pair of Detroit Diesels that run well and push her along economically at a comfortable 8 knots. They've got plenty of life left in them, and like most Detroits, they'll look after you if you look after them.
Inside, she's got that classic timber trawler feel -- warm, comfortable and practical, with enough space to live aboard long-term. The saloon is generous, the galley's well laid-out with full-size appliances, and there's proper separation between cabins. The master cabin spans the beam with its own ensuite, and there are two guest cabins forward, so she's ideal for a couple with room for family or friends.
She's not perfect -- there are a few areas that could use some TLC here and there -- but nothing structural, and nothing that takes away from her charm. The hard work's been done where it counts. With a bit of cosmetic attention, she'd come up beautifully.
Outside, she's got plenty of deck space, a big flybridge with great visibility, and wide walk-arounds that make her safe and easy to move about.
All in all, this is a straight, honest Sea Ranger 55 that's ready to be enjoyed now and improved over time. If you've been thinking about stepping into a genuine live-aboard trawler -- one that feels like home and won't break the bank -- this one's a solid starting point.
