About this vessel
Discover the thrill of cruising through the pristine waters of Southeast Asia aboard Yono Explorer, a 1982 Velmare Vagabond 47, a classic bluewater sailing yacht renowned for its robust build and timeless elegance. Yono Explorer was built by Cantieri Velmare SNC in Donoratico, Italy.
This yacht has been meticulously maintained and extensively upgraded to ensure safety, comfort, and performance for long-range cruising. With a complete refit from 2021 to 2023 and recent updates, she's ready to take you on unforgettable voyages.
Performance and Handling
This Vagabond 47 is powered by a recently overhauled 105hp marine diesel engine, upgraded with a new gearbox for enhanced efficiency and longevity. She features a reliable sail plan with brand-new jib and mizzen sails, plus an in-mast furling main sail in excellent condition.
Built to withstand the toughest conditions, this Vagabond 47 shines in heavy seas. Her high freeboard ensures a dry ride even in 2-3 meter waves, while the central cockpit provides a secure and stable helm station. She has proven her mettle in "angry mixed seas," delivering a smooth, confidence-inspiring experience.
Comfortable Living Spaces
Designed for comfort and practicality, the yacht features ample room for extended journeys. The aft owner's cabin includes an ensuite head, ensuring privacy and luxury. Two twin-bunk cabins with a shared head are perfect for guests or family. A central pilot house provides a cozy, protected space for navigation or relaxation in adverse weather. Air conditioning and a water maker ensure comfortable living in tropical climates.
Sustainable and Reliable Power
An upgraded solar array powers the yacht efficiently, making it ideal for off-grid cruising. Lithium batteries installed in 2021 are paired with a Victron charger/inverter for optimized power management. Three charging sources—solar, a genset, and an upgraded engine alternator—ensure consistent power availability.
Ready for Adventure
This yacht comes fully equipped for exploration, with features tailored for Southeast Asia. An aluminum-hulled dinghy with an 8hp outboard engine comes equipped, along with a built-in rack system for dive tanks. A liferaft has been recently serviced for safety and readiness.
She was hauled out for antifouling and a full topside and hull repaint in July 2024, ensuring she's in top condition for her next owner. Registered in Langkawi, she holds a recently renewed three-year Indonesian cruising permit and is currently moored at Labuan Bajo, a gateway to the magnificent Komodo National Park and beyond.
