Pearson 385
Overview
About this vessel
Owned and maintained by a professional captain and sailing instructor, this Pearson 385 stands out for her mechanical reliability and thoughtful upgrades. The new Yammer engine alone represents a massive value add, giving the next owner peace of mind for years to come.
She presents as a well-maintained, ready-to-go cruiser with a comfortable liveaboard layout, strong systems, and practical cruising upgrades.
The vessel features a spacious 2 cabin / 2 head layout ideal for couples, families, or liveaboard use. The large aft owner's stateroom includes a custom mattress. The bright and airy salon boasts excellent headroom and a folding dining table. The galley features a gimbaled propane stove and oven, with a top-loading refrigerator and freezer box to help preserve energy. Two full heads provide comfort and privacy, with the aft head being a dry head where the shower basin is separate from the manual flush toilet. The forward guest cabin has private access to the second head.
The hull is solid fiberglass construction with a stable, comfortable cruising design featuring moderate draft and an ICW-friendly rig. Decks are walkable with a secure center cockpit design. The aft deck provides plenty of space for coolers, jerry cans, or sunbathing. A custom hard top bimini delivers durability and shade, while a full dodger with integrated handholds and eisenglass panels offers weather protection. Custom cockpit cushions keep crew comfortable while underway or at anchor. Teak caprail and stainless steel rubrail complete the exterior. A folding swim ladder at the stern and a Magma propane grill at the stern rail add convenience.
The keel-stepped mast was designed for peace of mind, especially when offshore. Perpendicular spreaders permit the mainsail to be fully-eased when sailing off the wind. Standing rigging has been maintained and replaced incrementally as needed, with chainplates and mast step replaced in 2018. The mainsail is equipped with lazy jacks and stack pack for easy sail handling. A 135% genoa furls for convenience. The mainsheet is conveniently located just aft of the helm, allowing for quick de-powering in a puff. Lewmar self-tailing winches serve as primary winches.
Ground tackle features a powered windlass, Bruce anchor, and 150 feet of chain. A Danforth secondary anchor with 150 feet of rode provides backup. An integrated dinghy davit system is fitted (dinghy not included).
The 2025 Yammer 4JH57 diesel engine was professionally installed in February 2025 with just 20.3 hours of operation. A new propeller was fitted in March 2025. The engine was designed for reliability and ease of maintenance.
Electrical systems include 350 watts of solar power integrated into the hard-top bimini, providing efficient cruising power for extended stays off-grid. Four AGM batteries store power, supported by a battery charger and inverter. Single 30-Amp shore power system and dockside air conditioning are available for marina use.
Electronics include a Garmin chartplotter, Westmarine VHF with microphone at the binnacle, Furuno 1623 radar scope with dedicated pedestal-mounted dome at the stern, and a Ritchie compass at the binnacle. Redundancy at the nav desk includes a second VHF and second GPS chartplotter.
Bottom paint was completed in February 2025. An aft lazarette locker provides storage for docklines, fenders, and shore power cord. A dedicated locker just aft of the powered windlass holds the anchor bridle and washdown hose. Dorade vents promote ventilation throughout.
