ZEF was purchased in 2025 by current owner and was en route to cruise Coral Sea when health issues scuppered his plans. Fundamental preparation works have recently been completed including standing and running rigging, hull slip, strip, paint, and electronics upgrade.

Recent refurbishment includes strip old antifoul to gelcoat on hull and rudder, machine sand stripped surface, and strip running gear. Epoxy primer and antifoul applied in two coats. Anode fitted to shaft. Standing and running rigging replaced December 2025 with all new rigging, main mast and mizzen mast, wire and fittings, halyards, main sheet, spectra jib halyard, lazy bags for mizzen and main, and new wind indicator. A broken winch on the mast was serviced. All electrics and navigation electronics are approximately three years old in good, reliable condition. New autopilot drivebelt fitted April 2026. Two new starter batteries installed September 2025.
