About this vessel
If you have been searching for a small boat that punches well above its weight, this Gulf 29 Pilothouse is worth a serious look. The pilothouse configuration is what sets this boat apart from the typical 29-footer. It gives you protected helming, a dual station setup with both interior and exterior wheels, and the kind of all-weather capability you normally associate with much larger passagemakers. On the BC coast, where the weather can change quickly and seasons are long, a pilothouse is not a luxury but a genuine game changer for year-round use.
This particular example has been very well cared for and shows it throughout. The classic white and blue hull is clean, the teak interior is bright and warm, and the systems have been thoughtfully maintained and updated over the years. She is genuinely ready to cruise.
The Universal M25 diesel is fresh water cooled, one of the most reliable small marine diesels ever built and well known for longevity well past 3,000 hours with proper maintenance. The Auto Helm 3000 autopilot, AIS receiver and sender, Raymarine GPS chartplotter, Garmin EchoMap, and NASA Marine wind, speed and depth instruments make this a fully capable coastal navigator. The Standard Horizon Eclipse VHF with DSC rounds out a solid safety package.
Below decks the boat lives large for a 29-footer. Six foot two inches of standing headroom in the cabin, a bright teak-finished interior, a two-burner Hillerange propane stove with oven, a catalytic heater for shoulder season and winter use, Pioneer audio, and a holding tank on board. The three battery bank was replaced in 2021, two Matrix 50W solar panels keep her topped up at anchor, and 30-amp shore power with a Pro Mariner charger handles marina stays. Two electric bilge pumps plus a manual backup round out a well-considered electrical setup.
On deck the sailing gear is equally practical. Twin furling Genoas, a reefing main with lazy jacks for easy singlehanding, a Bruce anchor with 25 feet of chain and 200 feet of rode, and a manual windlass. The masthead sloop rig with encapsulated fin keel is a simple, efficient setup that is easy to manage short-handed.
