Arun 60 TSMY, built in 1986 by Halmatic to a design by G.L Watson. Internal fit-out by Camper & Nicholson. Semi-displacement hull design, shaft drive, with spade rudders. Navy Blue GRP hull with light cream superstructure. Aft deck; teak laid on GRP. Side and Foredeck: Treadmaster non-slip on GRP. Interior: Light oak veneers forward and aft, teak veneers in saloon; blue upholstery with blinds to all saloon windows. Cream carpet throughout.
When 'Cobalt' was commissioned, the first priority was security and safety at sea, hence the inevitable choice of the semi-displacement hull design. Size dictated the choice of the Arun hull designed by G.L Watson and further modified by the RNLI. A builder was chosen who would not only have the skills and necessary work priorities, but one with the experience to understand and emphasise detailed objectives - hence Halmatic and Camper & Nicholson were chosen. The boat was twelve months in the making at a cost in excess of a31.2 Million.
