About this vessel
ADORNO is a fine Racer/Cruiser sailing yacht. The First Class 12 was designed by Group Finot, creating a platform that was ahead of its time using carbon fiber internal frames and honeycomb bulkheads throughout. The design features a powerful IOR monotype hull, streamlined and safe.
ADORNO is powered by a newly installed electric engine and carries a Doyle standard main, Sobstad 135% Genoa and a staysail rig with a Doyle 60% Jib. The vessel has a three cabin / one head layout with refrigeration and LPG stove/oven.
The centerline companionway opens to a wide salon with galley to port and an inline navigation station to starboard. Aft are two double staterooms with fans and ports. Moving forward is a centerline salon table with dinette seating to port, and an adjacent lone settee to starboard. Forward is a pass-through head to the V berth, with a manual Jabsco head to port and vanity with sink to starboard. The interior features 5'10" headroom, attractive wood interior with custom cabinets, stereo, and interior LED lighting.
The L-shaped galley is to port of the companionway with a deep double stainless steel sink with pressure cold water, Isotherm top-loading refrigeration, Optimas two-burner gimbaled LPG stove and oven, and microwave.
The navigation station is inline and forward-facing just to starboard of the companionway with ample storage for future electronics and 12V / 110V panel access. The vessel carries Autohelm 18" 24 mile radar stern pole mounted, Standard Horizon 170C GPS at the navigation station, Standard Intrepid GX1260S at the navigation station with wired handheld at helm, and Standard Horizon 190i GPS at helm. Additional instruments include Ritchie Compass and Windex radar reflector, with Sony Bluetooth stereo.
Electrical systems include 30 amp shore power with 50' power cord, four Lifeline AGM 6V deep cycle 220 AH batteries, two Group 27 house batteries, Freedom 20 Heart Interface charger/inverter, and Heart Link 2000 interface at the nav panel.
The rigging features triple spreader anodized aluminum keel-stepped mast rig, rigid boom vang, rod rigging (reported replaced 2013), Navtec hydraulic back stay, retractable bow sprit, whisker pole, adjustable jib sheet cars, running backs, two Lewmar #52ST primaries, four Lewmar #43 ST cabin top winches, two Lewmar #10 ST aft cockpit combing, and cockpit traveler forward of helm.
The hull is hand-laid alternating layers of fiberglass mat with polyester resin, with a lead fin keel and bulb. The deck features fiberglass reinforced plastic over cored material, double high bow and stern pulpits, 1" stainless steel tapered stanchions bolted to the weather deck, double high life lines bow to stern with boarding gates amidship starboard side, and a Simpson Lawrence manual windlass with single bow roller. The hull-to-deck connection uses a shoe box style with steel fasteners on 6" centers with reinforced plastic bonding. Additional hull features include a raked bow, raised trunk cabin forward of cockpit with fixed windows and portlights, spade rudder, and large open cockpit with centerline helm and large center helm wheel.
The vessel is equipped with a Bruce 30# anchor, 50' 5/16" HT chain, and 200' rode. Bottom paint was applied in 2021.
