Ocean Alexander 420
Overview
About this vessel
SABBATICAL is a really nice example of "they don 27t make them like this anymore." She is a 1989 Ocean Alexander sun deck cruiser with an aft deck for lounging, a flybridge for being underway and a very comfortable master suite aft. The enclosed flybridge and sun deck make for all weather cruising in comfort. The interior is in very good condition for her age, with lovely teak everywhere. Cabinets abound and the teak are in very nice condition.
Coming aboard SABBATICAL you enter through the transom door in the aft cockpit. This is a deep space surrounded by the hull and a safe place to access the boat and the dock. From here you have access to the dinghy on a davit and a generous lazarette. The teak decking is in terrific condition. From here a few steps takes you to the huge sun deck that most owners make into an outdoor living space. The roof is solid fiberglass and the canvas and vinyl are in very nice condition. The are can accommodate plenty of chairs and tables for a family gathering. The side curtains can be opened or closed as the weather dictates.
From the sun deck you have several choices for accessing the boat. There are doors to the side decks, starboard leads to the lower helm door, or forward to the lounging area or the anchoring equipment. Port to the side deck or forward. A couple of stairs up lead you to the upper helm with full controls and seating for 4-5. This is a wonderful place to pilot or dock the vessel from. To starboard you have a door and a few steps that lead to the main salon and the interior of the boat. There is a lower helm to starboard with a door to the side deck. The carpet in the main salon is new.
From the main salon, you can go down a couple of steps to the galley on the port side and a dinette to starboard. The dinette is a wonderful area for the young people to congregate. The galley is connected to the main salon above and has ever amenity for cook for a crew. There is a three burner stove with oven, large refrigerator and ample counter and storage space. There is a newer propane stove, so running the generator for cooking is no longer required.
Forward of the galley is another cabin with V-berth and enclosed head. Aft of the main salon and down a few stairs is the primary cabin with a walk around queen bed, generous closets and dressers and a large head with separate shower stall. There is a vanity aft on the port side and enough storage for a long cruise. Both of the heads feature electric Vaccuflush heads.
SABBATICAL has an enormous amount of living space for a boat of this size and the comfort and range for PNW or Alaska cruising. She has a rigid hulled inflatable on a davit off the cockpit and a generator with low hours. SABBATICAL is a wonderful opportunity to get a well maintained version of a very popular cruising yacht.
