About this vessel
AIZU is a 98' (30.18m) high-performance sailing yacht designed with sailing performance at the core and a configuration that works exceptionally well for both private cruising and charter. Delivered in 1989 by the respected French yard Tréhard Marine in Antibes, she was conceived as a serious blue-water cruiser with the strength, balance and speed to cross oceans comfortably, while still being practical in shallow cruising grounds.
From the drawing boards of Gilles Vaton, AIZU carries clean lines and a powerful sailing plan that rewards active owners. She is fast under sail, stable offshore and confidence-inspiring on long passages. One of her defining features is the retractable centreboard keel, allowing her draft to reduce to around 2.3m for easy access to shallow anchorages like the Bahamas, while extending deep for proper upwind performance and stability at sea. AIZU 27s design translates naturally to charter use. Four equal double staterooms suit groups of friends or families, while her shallow draft opens up shallow-water destinations typically reserved for charter catamarans, all while offering far superior offshore capability and seaworthiness. AIZU has benefited from consistent care and several refit periods, most notably a major refit completed in 2023, following earlier upgrades in 2007, 2019, 2020 and 2022. This latest refit brought her fully up to modern expectations, including a refreshed interior with new American black walnut flooring, updated systems and a clean, minimalist aesthetic. New sails were added in 2019, and she is currently completing her five-year survey with a full rig service, leaving her in genuine turn-key condition.
Interior, designed by Claesson Koivisto Rune, leans into Scandinavian minimalism, using American black walnut, warm tones and high-quality materials to create a mellow atmosphere that feels timeless. Natural light is a key feature, helped by a semi-raised saloon with expansive windows that keep the space bright and connected to the sea. The main saloon offers a comfortable lounge area to port and formal dining to starboard, with panoramic views that work just as well underway as at anchor.
Accommodation is one of AIZU 27s strongest practical assets. She welcomes eight guests across four double staterooms, all with en-suite bathrooms, air conditioning, flat-screen TVs, entertainment systems and generous storage. The owner 27s cabin mirrors the guest cabins in size and layout, giving flexibility in how the yacht is used. Separate crew quarters for four ensure smooth onboard operation without intruding on guest space.
On deck, the large cockpit aft is set up for dining and socialising, with flexible shade for long lunches or evening drinks. The foredeck offers generous lounging space that works equally well for sunbathing or quiet time at anchor. Easy water access is provided via the swim platform and ladder, with storage for a tender and water toys, plus a deck shower for post-swim rinses.
