Overview

About this vessel

Designed by German Frers, the Hylas 51 is a proven bluewater passagemaker – fast, safe, and exceptionally well-built. CHACARA has been carefully maintained and sailed by her current owners for many years and won line honors in the 1995 Marion to Bermuda Race, achieved in light wind conditions. On deck, CHACARA offers a secure, well-protected cockpit, wide side decks, and the clean, classic lines that define the Hylas 51. She features a rare owner s layout with a dual master arrangement (forward and aft). CHACARA is ready for a new owner to continue her story, offering a well-built platform for rewarding sailing and cruising. She is ideal for a true sailor seeking classic design, liveaboard comfort, and proven offshore performance.

Starting forward is a large forepeak locker with divided chain lockers and deep space for sail storage accessed via large foredeck hatch. Further aft is the spacious guest cabin with queen berth to port and a seat with hanging locker to starboard. Numerous drawers and lockers throughout with large storage area under berth, which can be divided on center line for use as twin berths as needed. Light and ventilation are provided by three hatches, a dorade vent and electric fan. The forward head is further aft to port and features a Vacuflush toilet, Corian countertops and a separate stall shower. Toilet discharge is direct overboard or into a 40-gallon holding tank.

The expansive main salon is tastefully decorated in green Ultrasuede and is designed to accommodate owners and guests for extended periods. There is an L-shaped dinette to port with centerline seat inboard with storage underneath. A full-length settee is opposite to starboard with multiple lockers and TV/DVP and stereo. The mast is fully enclosed in teak cabinetry that includes a 12-bottle wine rack. Forward and to starboard is a Splendide 2000 washer/dryer. Three large deck hatches add to the bright and spacious feeling.

Moving aft and to port one finds a functional navigation station with large chart table, flush mounted electronics and electrical panels. Aft of the main salon to starboard is a well-equipped galley with exceptional storage space and countertop area, all white Corian. Opening portholes provide extra light and ventilation.

Dual passageways lead aft from the Nav area and galley to the owner s cabin, which features a centerline queen-sized berth that can be divided for use at sea. There are two large hanging lockers plus numerous drawers and storage lockers. A small vanity is to starboard with a seat to port. A large deck hatch, three opening portholes and electric fan provide ventilation that is further enhanced by the dual passageways. The owner s head to port includes a wet locker, Corian countertops, and a Vacuflush toilet that can be discharged into another independent 40-gallon holding tank. The separate shower stall includes a fold-down teak seat.
