1993 Perini Navi 48M for sale in Malta, Valletta
Overview
About this vessel
First of the PERINI NAVI 48M S/Y series, the design was an evolution of the 46m model, but incorporating a more modern reverse transom which allowed for the advent of a shell door opening from the lazarette. Two 48m yachts would follow.
This is not a refitted yacht, it's an entire rebuild.
Built in steel and aluminium in 1993 with the distinctive pedigree of the Italian yard, this ketch-rigged PERINI NAVI 48M sailing yacht has benefitted between 2023 and 2026 from a comprehensive, no-expense-spared reconstruction at the prestigious Lusben shipyard. This transformative rebuild elevates this motorsailer sailing yacht to a new standard, seamlessly blending her iconic heritage with the expectations of modern luxury yachting. Delivery of the rebuild was achieved end of June 2026.
Her rebuilding involved extensive upgrades, including the dismantling and reconstructing of most of its systems and spaces, significantly enhancing performance, safety, and onboard comfort. The focus was on selectively updating key systems and features while preserving the yacht's core identity and timeless aesthetic.
Her hull, superstructure, and interior remain largely intact, but the onboard systems including propulsion, electrical, and plumbing were mostly replaced to meet current environmental and regulatory standards.
Additionally, to switch the yacht's status to Commercial, both the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) and the Malta Flag required significant upgrades to the firefighting systems, emergency protocols, and life-saving gear in order to align with the requirements for charter operations.
Her aluminium masts and their in-furling system, originally envisioned by Fabio Perini, underwent a comprehensive overhaul. Non-destructive testing, new filler work, and the complete repainting of the masts and booms were all part of this. The masts received new cabling and LED lighting, and new spreaders were created to house Starlink antennas for constant high-speed connectivity. The main, mizzen, fisherman, staysail, and genoa were overhauled, and their hydraulic systems were upgraded to ensure optimal tension and reliability.
The entire decking was re-laid using high-quality 18-20mm teak planks. Additionally, new handrails were installed to meet the requirements for commercial operations. On the foredeck, new lockers were added to provide dedicated storage space for the life rafts. These lockers also serve a secondary function as wave breakers, helping to shelter the new Lomac Euforia tender mounted on its chocks. Most of the existing deck hatches were replaced with new units, further upgrading the yacht's deck infrastructure. These comprehensive deck renovations, including the installation of enhanced safety features and storage solutions, were essential components of the yacht's refit and conversion for charter use.
In the wheelhouse, the original analogue navigation consoles have been replaced with a comprehensive digital Furuno suite, including full ECDIS (Electronic Chart Display and Information System) capabilities.
The bilges, engine room, and pump room underwent a thorough sandblasting and repainting process. These areas were also re-engineered in 3D to optimise the available space for the installation of modern systems and equipment.
Brand-new powerful and efficient 588 kW (800 hp) MAN engines are coupled with urea-SCR technology, which improves performance, extends the yacht's operational range, and reduces NOx emissions to align with current regulations, allowing her to sail in ECAs. Two new 80 kW CAT C4 generators were installed, and the original emergency generator was fully refurbished. A new battery pack was also added, housed in a cabinet in the forward dining room on the main deck.
The pump room equipment has been comprehensively upgraded, including new boilers, Idromar MC5 watermakers, a Dometic Condaria HVAC system, a Hamann sewage plant, Idromar UV and silver-ion water treatment, and ATUs and fancoils.
A new shore power transformer and emergency steering system are installed in the lazarette, along with a new Seares damping system for the shell door.
Her interior was carefully restored to remain faithful to the yacht's heritage. The solid mahogany joinery and marble wet surfaces have been meticulously refurbished in both the guest and crew areas. All 33 opening portholes in the hull are replaced with custom-crafted, sealed stainless steel versions by Fabbri Fiore to comply with commercial safety codes. The original light switches and outlets are restored, and all lighting is converted to energy-efficient LED technology by Cantalupi.
Her galley was completely rebuilt with fire-rated insulation, new pipework, commercial-grade appliances, and a walk-in cold store. Her laundry area is now fitted with Miele marine-grade appliances, new plumbing and waste water tanks.
An award-winning sailing yacht from the renowned builder Perini Navi, this sailing yacht boasts distinctive classic Perini Navi interiors and is in impeccable condition. She has always been used privately and is with ABS Class and now coded for charter under Malta flag.
Her classic interior features opulent mahogany walls and rich leather seats. The spacious interior communal areas include a formal dining room with seating for 10 and adjoining sofa seating and chairs, perfect for after-dinner drinks or coffee. The main saloon offers ample relaxation space for the guests on board, with cosy sofas and chairs faced towards each other to encourage socialising.
Sleeping 10 guests in 4 luxurious and comfortable en-suite staterooms, her well-appointed accommodation is arranged with a Master stateroom, a VIP cabin with Pullman, and two twin cabins, one of them with additional Pullman berth. She also carries crew accommodation for 9.
This PERINI NAVI 48M also offers vast deck space, her exterior includes an al-fresco dining table and plush sofas on the aft deck. Additional seating options are located forward and at the helm, with built-in chairs for guests to relax on while underway.
The comprehensive renovation of this PERINI NAVI 48M sailing yacht stands as a testament to the possibilities of modern craftsmanship and innovation. It is more than a technical achievement; it is a celebration of timeless design, skilled engineering, and the enduring allure of life at sea. With its new systems, restored interiors, and enhanced safety features, the yacht sails with renewed purpose, prepared to create new memories for generations to come.
