Overview

About this vessel

The "Team Player" is a 1993 Ricky Scarborough 56 Convertible and truly a one of a kind with her established pedigree and meticulous upgrades. This is a unique opportunity to own a well-built and engineered classic vessel with an immense amount of modern technology through her updates. The combination of the V-8 Common Rail engines, performance, great head sea ride, and sleeping accommodations for 5 make for a very desirable sportfishing platform. The recent install of SeaKeeper NG9 provides game-changing tournament capability.

The Natural represents a classic example of Ricky Scarborough's legendary custom cold-molded wood builds. It is renowned for its aggressive entry, signature Carolina flare, and exceptional head-sea performance. While maintaining its classic, soft ride, the vessel has undergone extensive refits to integrate modern tournament-grade technology and amenities.

Notable upgrades include a repower to twin 900 HP MAN V8 Common Rail diesel engines, installation of a Seakeeper NG9 gyro stabilizer, a redesigned helm featuring triple Garmin GPSMAP 8215 displays, Omni Sonar, professional sonar modules, open-array radar, and a FLIR thermal camera. New exhaust risers and a Blue Water Desalination water maker were also added. A new 21.5KW Cummins Onan generator, rebuilt Eskimo ice chipper, and refrigerated lower mezzanine boxes complete the mechanical upgrades.

The interior features an L-shaped sofa to port with storage, new 2017 carpet and wallpaper throughout, vinyl headliner, U-Line drink ice salon ice maker, 2x 16,000 BTU Cruisair A/C units, 38" Sony flat screen in cabinet above dinette, Bose surround sound, Direct TV, and Sony Blue-Ray player. Teak and holly landing and teak chest provide classic detailing.

The dinette opposite the galley on the starboard side is L-shaped featuring a teak dining table with seating for 4 and storage underneath.

The galley features a peninsula-style Corian counter, Amana microwave/convection oven, 220v Frigidaire Euroflair 2-burner stove, 4 Perlick refrigeration drawers, 240V Raritan 12-gallon water heater, and outboard-facing galley sink.

The master stateroom includes a queen-size bed with new mattress, plenty of drawer and hanging locker storage, private head and shower with mirrored ceiling and new toilet, Corian countertops, and full private facilities. The port stateroom features over-under bunks with private head and shower, Corian counters, drawer and hanging locker storage. The forward stateroom includes over-under bunks to starboard, hanging locker to port as you enter, drawer storage under lower bunk, Corian counter top with cabinet storage above, and private reading lights for both bunks.

A hallway bunk to starboard includes a privacy curtain and large storage for rods, tackle, or large gear, with a set of drawers for personal effects underneath. The companionway bunk located to starboard features a privacy curtain, new mattress, private reading light, and large storage under the bunk for rods, tackle, or gear.

The guest head immediately to starboard as you descend the companionway stairs features a 2017 ceramic Raritan head, mirrored ceiling, storage cabinets above and below sink, and Corian countertops.

The helm includes new 2x Release helm chairs, new Release jump seat, integrated rod storage, forward and aft spreader lights, tri-color hardtop light, EZ2CY enclosure, triple spreader Rupp Big Rig outriggers, and 2x 24volt Miya Epoch US-9 super teaser reels and 2x 12volt Miya Epoch Command x9 HP teaser reels built-in to hardtop.

The flybridge features new 2015 2x Release helm chairs, new 2017 Release jump seat, fan-integrated rod storage, forward and aft spreader lights, tri-color hardtop light, EZ2CY enclosure, triple spreader Rupp Big Rig outriggers, and built-in teaser reels.

The cockpit features full mezzanine seating, teak deck, mezzanine, and covering boards, live-well to starboard forward, very large in-deck stainless steel fish box and transom fish box, refrigerated lower mezzanine boxes, centerline engine room access in mezzanine, 2x 24v cockpit electric reel plugs, side locker storage to starboard, spot-free system built into port-side locker, tri-color overhang lighting, under-gunwale RGB lighting, transom door, and Release Marine fighting chair with rocket launcher.

The electrical system includes a 2018 21.5KW Cummins Onan genset, 2016 Groco ARG seawater strainer, 2x 2016 Dolphin Pro battery chargers, 2015 galvanic isolator, individual engine start battery bank with 2x 8D deep cycle batteries, 2x Deka AMG batteries for house, and single 50 amp shore connection.

Engineered for high-stakes offshore campaigns, the Natural has established a stellar reputation as a fierce, consistent competitor on the major East Coast and Mid-Atlantic billfish circuits. At the 2021 Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament, the vessel secured a historic podium finish by taking 2nd place overall in the blue marlin division after landing a 521.6-pound blue marlin. At Pirate's Cove Billfish Tournament, the boat finished 4th place overall after successfully releasing four billfish. The Natural is a recurring, highly respected participant in the Virginia Beach Billfish Tournament and consistently showcases the elite fishability and capability of the Scarborough build pedigree.
