About this vessel
The Nordhavn 46 is a timeless passage maker with renowned sea keeping ability, achieving an impressive record of successful ocean voyages and circumnavigations and easily handled by a couple. MARKTIME is capable of cruising non-stop 3,000 nautical miles at 8 knots on current fuel load. MARKTIME has had no expense spared in preparation for long-term cruising and has received many expensive upgrades in successive ownerships.
The present owner spent heavily in 2022 and remodeled the boat in interesting ways. The upper deck is now sheltered by a rigid bimini structure, featuring surround seating combining large capacity stowage plus a navigation repeating station and new BBQ. At the stern, a new swim platform with surround railings and a diving ladder was designed. A new diesel diving compressor and 3 tanks were installed in 2022. The interior has been nicely improved and benefited from all new soft furnishings, cushions and window shades.
The saloon features a teak dining table with comfortable U-shaped wrap around sofa seating four to five persons, providing great views and an ideal place to gather whether underway or at anchor. On the starboard side, the recently converted seating arrangement includes housing for a fridge/freezer.
MARKTIME has a spacious stateroom midships. The bulkheads are white laminate, with teak slats on the port hull side, completing the 'Herreshoff' styling. A desk/bureau/dresser area with drawers and a mirror is located on the after bulkhead, and bed-side teak cabinets sit on either side of the island berth. A large bookcase lies above the bed, and the cabin has two storage lockers. The master sleeps two on a comfortable inner-spring, cushion mattresses.
The master head and shower is located directly opposite the island berth on the starboard side, featuring a SURELL countertop with stainless steel sink, mirrored medicine cabinet, VACUFLUSH freshwater head, and shower with curtain and built-in seat.
The guest stateroom is located forward and provides comfortable accommodation for two, with one double bed to port and one bench-style settee to starboard. The overhead hatches and portlights allow plenty of light and ventilation, with numerous lockers providing storage options.
The pilothouse is accessed via starboard or port doors or from the salon and is notable for the Pompanette helm chair, a rare feature in 46s, and an array of instruments. The raised pilothouse provides all-round excellent vision from starboard to port. From the helm chair, navigation and engine instruments can be readily seen, autopilot and engine control adjustments comfortably made, and steering and communications easily reached. Adjacent to a locker is a built-in upholstered bench seat with foot locker and table, and above and behind is a watch berth. A comprehensive library of navigation and boating volumes exists outboard of the pilot house stairs.
The galley is an open forward extension of the salon with a very useful overhead hatch to serve the pilothouse. The dividing counter is used as a food and drink servery and contains large storage below. Ample 220v and 120v power outlets exist, with ten lockers, three double doored and seven single.
The main engine is a John Deere Lugger six-cylinder normally aspirated diesel engine, renowned for reliability and economy. MARKTIME has clocked less than 10,000 hours; considering the boat went non-stop from Dana Point California to Hawaii and non-stop Hawaii to Singapore in 2011, this is a reliable engine. The prop shaft was replaced December 2017, cutlass bearing replaced, and stern gland repacked with 'set and forget' dripless Gortex.
The vessel is set up for both 220 VAC and 110 VAC. At dock the vessel is 220 VAC/50Hz running from shore power and at sea 120 VAC/60Hz supplied by a PHASOR generator installed in 2022. MARKTIME has power to spare, with a total of 920 amps in two banks of 12 VDC batteries, new 2022.
The vessel was purchased and no expense was spared to bring the 1994 build into today's world. The upgrades, enhancements and general repairs were targeted to get the boat fit for long passages and extensive time at sea. However, due to personal reasons, the vessel was only used on a few Malaysia and Thailand weeklong passages. This is a true liveaboard in every capacity. These boats age gracefully and normally do not change hands often; they are usually bought and kept and hold their value.
