1995 Seawind 850 XL for sale in NEWPORT, New South Wales
Overview
About this vessel
The Seawind 850 XL is a compact catamaran designed by Scott Jutson, precursor to the popular Seawind 1000, balancing performance and comfort. It is praised as a great entry-level cruising catamaran, known for its simple, functional design, compact size, and ability to sail short-handed, featuring a versatile cockpit/saloon area, good accommodation for its size, and solid performance. The design is celebrated for its excellent space utilization, level sailing, easy handling, and robust build.
The starboard hull features a galley midships with a stove/grill, while the port hull is separate and has berths. The boat sleeps 4–7, with vee berths forward, double berths aft, and midship berths that can extend. A U-shaped lounge and convertible table are in the saloon. A hallmark of the design is the large, open connection between the saloon and cockpit, creating a large entertaining space. A barbecue is neatly arranged on the aft rail.
The boat is easily sailed short-handed with a furling headsail and stack pack main with lazy jacks, performing well in moderate winds and reaching 6.5–8 knots upwind. The vessel was slipped in November 2025 including antifoul.
