One of the most successful production sailboats of her size, this Catalina 36 MkII combines proven Gerry Douglas/Catalina Design Group pedigree with a shoal-draft wing keel that opens up cruising grounds many deeper-draft 36-footers can't reach — all while retaining excellent sailing manners. A well cared for and well used boat, ready to go cruising.
A Yanmar 3YM30AE diesel was installed in 2016 with 2,300 hours and is well maintained. All standing and running rigging was replaced in 2018 by South Beach Rigging of Sausalito. Bottom paint was refreshed in 2023. A Cobra 1500W inverter was added in 2017. The refrigeration compressor was recently replaced. Sails include a mainsail and 115% jib from approximately 2016, along with an asymmetrical spinnaker with sock.
The hull is molded fiberglass with hand-laid solid laminate and structural grid. The sloop rig features a Z Spars mast with in-mast furling mainsail, Schaefer 2100 roller furler, and Garhauer deck hardware including traveler, jib tracks, blocks, and fairleads. Lewmar winches comprise two #48ST primaries and two #30ST models. Ground tackle includes a Lewmar Delta 35-pound plow anchor with 200 feet of 5/16-inch chain and a Maxwell 1000 windlass. A custom Covercraft cockpit dodger and bimini in Sunbrella, custom helm cover, and Snappit cockpit table complete the deck.
Navigation and systems include a Raymarine C80 chartplotter/radar, 2025 Garmin EchomapTouchscreen GPS, Standard Horizon VHF, and Autohelm autopilot. The galley features Frigomatic refrigeration and a propane stove with oven, supplemented by a Cosy Cabin heater and Kuum rail-mounted gas grill. Two Rule 2000 electric bilge pumps with manual backup provide redundancy. Water, fuel, and holding tank capacity provide ample range for cruising.
The interior is well-appointed with teak joinery throughout. The layout includes a forward V-berth cabin with enclosed head, U-shaped galley, L-shaped dinette convertible to berth, starboard settee with nav station, and private aft cabin with double berth.
A solid, well-sailed example of one of the most proven cruising designs on the water — freshly rigged and re-powered, ready for coastal cruising or a repeat run down to Mexico.
