Overview

About this vessel

This big beamy high performance cat was built by Jeff Schionning for his own personal use and enjoyment. It is also very accommodating with 3 double cabins, a spacious and well equipped galley, a vacuflush bathroom, self sustaining solar and wind generation with smart battery storage. Exciting performance is guaranteed with near new Extreme sails, a rotating mast and prodder. An array of quality navigational electronics keeps you fully informed underway and Auto pilot makes it safe and easy on the skipper. Twin Honda outboards make it exceptionally maneuverable when docking. The half metre shallow draft also means you can get in close to shore when pulling up in your favourite bay.

The expansive cockpit is protected with a full width bimini and clears, there is a stainless steel BBQ and there are dual water entries for swimmers, as well as an arch davit for the RIB tender and solar panels.

Construction- Composite. Duracore Panels and Epoxy /Fibreglass. Draft - retractable dagger boards and kick up rudders with both retracted it floats in 50 cm of water. Outboards when lowered are shallower than the hull so the vessel can be manoeuvred in very shallow water with the daggerboards and rudders up by using the outboards. Draft 90cm with rudders down. Maximum draft 1.4m with the daggerboards full lowered.

Engines- 2 x Electric start and Power tilt Honda BF20 outboards. Ultra long legs- Port side Gear box new. Serviced and new impellors fitted in Dec 2024. Spare impellors/seals/oil onboard. Engines are concealed under cockpit seats and fully retract when sailing or not in use. Fuel 2 x 45 litre with gauges fitted adjacent to engine.

Steering- Hydraulic wheel. Can be steered by the Wheel or Autopilot acts independently of the wheel. Hydraulics can be deactivated by opening a valve. Vessel can then be helmed by the Port side tiller with a carbon tiller arm. Autopilot steers to a set course or can be set to maintain a heading relative to the wind. When sails are trimmed, and this function is used the vessel stays powered up by adjusting course to follow minor wind direction changes.

Rudders are fitted with nylon bolts which act as shear pins. If the rudder hits something the nylon bolt shears, and the rudder kicks up. Saving the rudder from serious damage. Nylon bolts can be replaced in minutes. Spares onboard.

Accommodation- 3 x double cabins. Two main cabins have recently been repainted and new lighting fitted. LED strip lights /USB outlets and Sirocco fans. Hatches with covers over double beds ensure great ventilation. Each fitted with a wardrobe and hanging space. Plenty of storage under built in bureau. Both fitted with mirrors.

Cover fitted for when not in use. Gas remote solenoid and detector/auto shut off fitted with sensors in both hulls to ensure safety. Clean and bright airy feeling with hull side ports and plenty of overhead ventilation. Inverter outlets fitted in galley and lithium batteries can support toasters kettles, coffee machines etc.

Heads/Bathroom- Located Starboard aft. Vacuflush toilet system (uses fresh water to keep everything hygienic and prevent the usual boat toilet odours but with the saltwater inlet blanked nearby if required in the future. Holding tank fitted with charcoal filter on vent line. Extraction fan and powered pump out fitted. Shower drains to a sump with automatic pump out. Tool/ Spare equipment storage located behind cabinet doors. New shower outlet fitted. Lots of storage with built in cabinets and tinted acrylic covers. Port aft cabinet houses the Paloma instantaneous gas water heater. Gas detectors with alarm and remote shut off fitted. Hot water is piped to the main shower and wash basin, The galley sink and the outdoor shower.

Starboard hull large bench space with storage under and over and behind. More storage cabinets on the outboard sides. Electrical panel with circuit breakers. Most of the underfloor areas (with the exception of the shower sump access opening) are sealed compartments Likewise each bow is fitted with a collision bulkhead and sealed buoyancy compartments. Similarly, each stern section has sealed compartments to ensure that even if holed the reserve buoyancy is so high that the vessel cannot sink.

The boat is fitted with 8 opening Lewmar deck hatches. 4 of which had new acrylic and hinges fitted last year. Sunbrella covers onboard for all.

Electrical system- 2 high quality Lifepo4 batteries are fitted as "house" batteries and additional smaller one is used as "reserve" The vessel is fitted with a Victron Cyrix automatic combiner. This links the two battery banks when the battery voltage is high and disconnects when it senses that they are no longer being charged (such as engines off) This ensures that the reserve battery is always full and available. A traditional OFF/1/2/BOTH switch is also fitted. A new maintenance free AGM with a dedicated charger is fitted in the chain locker to service the anchor winch.

There are two solar panels fitted to the top of the davit which always keep the batteries full. These panels are connected to a Victron MPPT converter with Bluetooth so the performance can be tracked on the Victron Connect APP. There are two portable flexible solar panels and a connection point at the chart table to allow more solar to be connected at anchor.

Electrical panel with quality circuit breakers. A new Victron 30-amp charger is fitted behind the electrical panel. This also has Bluetooth and is viewable /adjusted through the Victron Connect app. There is also a built in Victron Display as part of the electrical switchboard. A Tank level display is also fitted to monitor water levels. There are two 200 litre tanks built in under the settee.

An AIS receiver is also fitted and on the wireless network. A Raymarine VHF is fitted and also onboard are two Motorola handheld VHF radios. An EPIRB is fitted along with a SART (search and rescue transponder). New coastal pack of flares onboard. Raymarine ST5000+ Autopilot. Wind Generator. 12 volt boosted TV /Radio antenna.

Sails and Rigging. Originally designed with a self-tacking headsail. The track for which remains. It is now fitted with a bigger overlapping genoa and tracks. Genoa new in 2022 by Extreme Sails. Mainsail with three reefs and full-length battens. New in 2022 by Extreme sails. Stack pack with lazy jacks new in 2022. Mast is a composite, rotating wing. Chain plates are new and heavy duty polished stainless steel with heavy backing plates. The boat is fitted with a retractable bow sprit/prodder to fly an asymmetric spinnaker which is in a sock/chute.

On deck. Two large lockers are built in forward. Portside houses fenders and two x 9 kg gas bottles. Starboard side is fitted pegs to store spare lines and a built-in bracket to take a small outboard. All lifelines are Dyneema. A Muir Cougar anchor winch with Gypsy and cathead is fitted with 90 meters of chain and a ROCNA anchor. There are two handheld remotes onboard and an up/down controller is hardwired at the helm station. There is a spare ultralight Fortress aluminium high holding power anchor with chain and rode stored in the second anchor locker. The deck is painted with grey kiwi grip non skid.
