Overview

About this vessel

Built by Sydney Yachts in 1999, and overall, the winner of the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race in 2001, 'Bumblebee V' is a Murray Burns Dovell 62 now for sale with YOTI in conjunction with the team at Mac Marine.

After a hugely successful race career early in her life, 'Bumblebee V' was purchased by a well-known Australian yachtsman in 2014. His brief to naval architects was to create a fast and safe 62' high quality racer cruiser that could be sailed by his family.

Accommodation was improved with the addition of a large V-berth, pressure hot water added to the galley and both heads and a jet bow-thruster fitted for easy berthing. In 2018 a new Yanmar 75hp diesel was fitted and a new sail drive added to that in 2020.

In 2015 a swept rig and single backstay were fitted, as was a bow prodder, headsail furler and an electric cabin top halyard winch. All of the instruments were replaced with a new suite of B&G and in 2017 a wardrobe of North 3Di upwind sails and 2 Asymmetric spinnakers were added to the specification.

In 2022, she was sold to her current owner who had a single purpose - to race her in the Sydney to Hobart. And so, in 2023 she was restored to her racing essence, undergoing a significant refit - including several new additions to her sail wardrobe - in readiness to compete. She was then professionally campaigned throughout 2023, achieving commendable finishes in key events, including:

o 2023 Hamilton Island Race Week - 2nd on scratch in division

o 2023 Cabbage Tree Island Race

o 2023 Sydney to Hobart - 14th on line honours

Still in top shape, 'Bumblebee V' is now set up for both racing and cruising and represents a remarkable opportunity for a discerning buyer.
