About this vessel
"Pinguino" is an exceptionally well-equipped and extensively upgraded Nordhavn 50 that embodies the qualities which have made the N50 one of the most respected long-range cruising platforms ever produced.
Thoughtfully configured in the highly desirable two-stateroom layout with an amidships owner's suite, "Pinguino" has benefitted from knowledgeable ownership and continual investment with a clear focus on offshore reliability, redundancy, cruising comfort, and at-anchor livability.
The vessel has seen substantial upgrades and preventative maintenance throughout ownership, including major mechanical servicing, electrical modernization, navigation and electronics improvements, stabilizer servicing, upgraded charging systems, solar integration, navigation redundancy enhancements, interior refinements, and extensive systems optimization.
Most recently, the vessel received updated headliners throughout the salon, galley, and pilothouse in April 2026, further refreshing the interior spaces and continuing the vessel's ongoing improvement program.
The owner's stateroom features a queen-sized island berth, abundant drawer storage, hanging lockers, bookshelves, and ensuite head and shower accommodations. The forward guest stateroom includes a full-size berth, extensive storage, desk/computer station with swivel chair, and private ensuite head and shower.
The salon is warm, comfortable, and optimized for extended cruising, featuring an L-shaped settee with adjustable table, Stressless lounge chair with ottoman, teak and spruce sole, bound carpeting over Soundown insulation, built-in entertainment cabinet, and Hunter Douglas shades. Climate control is provided by CruiseAir reverse-cycle air conditioning and a four-zone Webasto hydronic heating system.
The galley is exceptionally functional for extended cruising and liveaboard use, featuring granite countertops, Force 10 LPG stove and oven, Frigidaire refrigerator/freezer with ice maker, Sub-Zero drawer freezer, Sharp convection microwave oven, Broan trash compactor, double stainless-steel sink, and extensive cabinetry and storage.
The pilothouse reflects the vessel's serious passagemaking pedigree and has been extensively modernized with offshore redundancy in mind, featuring a Stidd helm chair, raised L-settee, twin navigation PCs, redundant autopilot systems, and four steering/control stations.
Electrical modernization supports long-term anchoring capability while minimizing generator runtime, with Magnum inverter/charger, Victron charging systems, solar charging array, Maretron energy monitoring, and LED lighting conversion.
The deck and hull feature twin Forespar Flopper Stopper Systems, Sarca Excell anchor, Maxwell windlass, Portuguese Bridge Controls, Cockpit Control Station, swim platform, fresh and saltwater washdowns, cockpit shower, and Sunbrella cockpit awning.
In 2023, "Pinguino" received an upgraded tender package featuring a 13' Highfield aluminum-hull inflatable paired with a 30HP Tohatsu outboard, configured specifically for Pacific Northwest cruising and recreation, and outfitted for fishing and crabbing activities with downrigger and crab pot puller capabilities.
"Pinguino" represents the increasingly difficult-to-find combination of a properly equipped Nordhavn 50 paired with experienced ownership and continual system investment. The vessel offers the comfort and warmth expected of a classic Nordhavn while incorporating the systems, redundancy, and upgrades serious cruisers demand for extended operation. For buyers seeking a capable Pacific Northwest cruiser, Alaska platform, Baja explorer, or offshore passagemaker, "Pinguino" deserves serious consideration.
