Overview

About this vessel

Here is another slice on WA's boating history. We have seen several of these ex government boats in recent years and they hold a special part in so many of our WA boating fraternity boating memories. Ideally suited to offshore fishing between Esperance and the Monties up North. What an amazing boat for Rotto with a few mates surfing and diving anchored up in Fish Hook Bay away from the Thompson Bay madness.

You can several hundred thousand dollars for an alloy boat several metres shorter than this fine example, why wouldn t you grab this bargain at roughly half that!?

The John Brockman is an ex fisheries patrol boat from WA coastal waters and as you can imagine is built for the role, as a sea going boat with limitless potential I think we will all agree she is something special. Built to go anywhere you might like to take her and safely return.

Step through the Port side double doors ideal for bringing up a cray pot or two adjacent to the Stainless Steel davit pole, just add a winch onto an enormous rear deck finished in alloy tread plate, full length alloy rails, self draining decks, LED lights, rod holders, Outboard mounting bracket, bait board, transom door and a huge over head alloy awning ideally suited for the tender, long boards, SUP's or performing the perfect peg leg bombie at Parker Point. A fantastic area to fish, relax, rig dive gear or enclose with side covers for an extended rear living area at Rotto. So many options available!

The Saloon and lower helm position is functional as you would expect from an ex commercial boat. A centrally located sliding Saloon door leading into an open plan commercial looking Saloon. A single bunk / lounge to either side will allow an overnight option or a rest on the way back from the shelf while the skipper takes care of the long run home. Massive storage options available including an area under the Saloon accessed from the Stb side. You will need a ladder. Skipper and co pilot seating given central positions and excellent vision with the skipper working through a brace of Furuno electronics with sounder, GPS units and Radar. The traditional spinner style windscreen wiper fitted to the raked back screen for that classic commercial look. Sliding the side windows open and opening the overhead hatches will allow all the air flow you will need.

Two steps down the central companionway and you have a rudimentary Galley, it functional while not being fancy. For those long trips you have the Trailblazer Eutectic fridge and a Maxi track 12v pie warmer... What more could a tired and hungry fisherman need on the way home. A small Stainless Sink, Inverter and twin burner stove. You will feed the crew and keep them happy and that s all we need. Off to the Port side a purpose built head with a Porta-Potti toilet fitted for ease of cleaning.

Pushing her along at an 18-20 knots cruise with a sprint speed of 25-28 knots is a pair of Yanmar diesel turbo stern drive engines both running like a clock. These jumped into life with barely a turn of the key and idled up the canal beautifully for our photo shoot. Well serviced by the current owner who runs her out past the 40 mile line on a good day with 6 or so on board. A great feel at the controls with excellent manoeuvrability thanks in a large part to the electronic controls with an emergency manual ove ride if something was to be an issue at sea. Overseeing the engines is the standard Yanmar engine management system. The lower helm supports all the electronics with the upper helm a paired down installation when a reef pass is being negotiated. The current owner rarely uses the upper station. This boat is designed and powered to run a long way over long periods of time. Confidence is the key here!

She has stories to tell as a result of her fantastic life lived. This is the boat the boys have been looking for get a few mates together and get on the phones. Don t miss this one!
