Crowther Southern Ocean 57

Rogntudjuuu is a Crowther Southern Ocean 57, launched in 2001 and extensively refitted in 2019. Built by Hart Marine in Melbourne, she now lies on the Gold Coast. Constructed from carbon composite with a Nomex/Foam core, she is a lightweight, performance-oriented catamaran designed for racing, having previously held the record in the Brisbane to Gladstone Race.

Measuring 57 feet in length with a 35-foot beam and drawing just 0.4 metres with the daggerboards up, Rogntudjuuu combines exceptional speed and strength with shallow-draft versatility. Her carbon rig, synthetic rigging, and comprehensive sail wardrobe—including a Carbon GPL mainsail, multiple headsails, a Hydranet staysail, a Code 0, and A1 and A2 asymmetric spinnakers—make her a fast, capable, and confident passagemaker.

In April 2025, she was fitted with twin Tohatsu 20hp 4-stroke outboards, still with minimal hours. Under power, she comfortably cruises at 10 knots, supported by a modern power bank featuring 300AH lithium house batteries, AGM start batteries, Enerdrive charger and inverter, a portable Honda 2000W generator, and 800W of solar with MPPT controllers. Electronics were comprehensively upgraded in 2023, including a full Raymarine suite with Axiom 9 2 chartplotter, autopilot, wind instruments, AIS Class B, GPS, and Icom VHF.

The interior is practical and lightweight, accommodating up to 10 people with two single berths, doubles, and two queens. The saloon galley features an induction cooktop, portable 12V front-opening fridge, and sink, while a single electric head services the boat.

Safety and anchoring equipment are complete, including multiple bilge pumps, EPIRB, lifejackets, lifering, fire extinguishers, a Lofrans windlass overhauled in 2024, primary and spare anchors, and essential cruising extras such as mooring lines, fenders, and a sea anchor. She also carries a Truekit 3m tender (2024) with a 20hp Tohatsu outboard.

With her carbon composite construction, extensive recent upgrades, and race-bred performance design, Rogntudjuuu is a true offshore racing catamaran, equally at home on fast coastal or bluewater passages.
