Overview

About this vessel

Bazan is a Great Harbour GH47 trawler, built by Mirage Manufacturing in Gainesville, Florida. The Great Harbour is billed as the most versatile cruiser. It is designed to go off the grid, with large interior space, an easy to maneuver layout, abundant storage, and easy to service full-size household appliances. Underway, Bazan boasts a very stable ride, thanks to her hard chines and wide beam, and with her skeg protected props and a draft of less than 3 feet, she can go exploring in shallow water. The large fuel, water and holding tanks make the Great Harbour GH47 ready for long term, comfortable cruising. Bazan is a veteran of America's Great Loop and is turnkey ready to take you on your own adventures, whether cruising to the Caribbean, the Bahamas, coastal waters, the Great Loop or inland rivers.

Bazan can be entered through port and starboard transom gates, or port and starboard gates at the pilothouse level by ladder, depending on dock design. The transom gates open into the isinglass enclosed aft cockpit. Double doors open from the aft cockpit into the salon.

The pilothouse can be accessed using the interior starboard side stairs or from a dock using a boarding ladder. Port and starboard doors from the pilothouse lead to the decks and Portuguese bridge. A centerline ladder from the pilothouse deck level leads to the large pilothouse roof, which has stainless steel safety rails (installed 2022).

Aft of the pilothouse helm station is the L-shaped seating area that can convert to a watch-berth using the foldable table. The guest cabin is aft of the pilothouse on the same level as the pilothouse. Guests have access to an ensuite day head.

A few steps down from the salon to port is the U-shaped galley, and to starboard is the large dinette. The companionway features a stacked washer and dryer to port, and a full guest/day head to starboard.

Continuing forward to port is the second stateroom which was outfitted as an office/workroom. The master stateroom with an ensuite head is located in the bow.

The aft deck of Bazan is fully enclosed with isinglass and insect screens. Port and starboard gates in the transom offer dock access. Access to the lazarette is through a hatch in the cockpit sole.

The GH47 is constructed to be unsinkable, according to the manufacturer. A buoyant core material was used in the decks, the superstructure, and the hull above the rub rail. The vessel is designed to remain afloat if the unthinkable happens. Below the heavy-duty V-shaped rubber chaffing rub rail, the hull is solid fiberglass with a robust construction designed to handle sever impacts, including inadvertent grounding. The twin keels protect the dual props, which also allow the GH47 to be dried out on its own bottom.

In December 2021 all of the exterior rails were upgraded, including: 1 1/4in tubing aluminum pipe bow rail, main deck rails with gate openings and aft deck rails; 1 1/2in tubing stainless steel removable swim platform rails with rod holder and fold-down ladder; 1 1/4in tubing stainless steel upper deck folding light bar; stainless steel grabrail on the tender; removable dog boarding platform with removable rails and step.

The maple sole has hatch access to a large storage area. The galley headroom is 6ft 10in.

The primary dining area on Bazan is the dinette, to starboard across from the galley. The large (40in x 60in) table can seat 6-7 guests. The Sunbrella upholstered bench seats have storage beneath. Two opening, screened portlights allow natural light and ventilation. There is hatch access to a large storage area under the maple sole.

The companionway features a Kenmore stacked washer/dryer to port, forward of the galley. To starboard, forward of the dinette is a storage closet.

Forward of the galley to port is a cabin which has been outfitted as a workshop with storage. Two opening, screened portlights provided natural light and ventilation. The maple sole continues into the workshop. Storage is available in a cedar-lined mahogany locker with 28" hanging rod, a Craftsman stainless steel toolbox (39"w x 33"h), a two-drawer file cabinet, a work counter with shelving above, and a large bookcase.
