Overview

About this vessel

Launched in 2002, this Nordhavn 47 features robust construction, commercial-grade systems, and a ship-like design that together deliver the safety, comfort, and capability Nordhavn is renowned for.

She has already completed an impressive passage from North America to Queensland, showcasing her bluewater credentials. After arriving in Australia, "Bunyip 1" was sold to a keen recreational fisherman who modified the top deck to accommodate a 4.3m Quintrex aluminium tender and installed a 500kg ADC deck crane for launching the ship's tender. She then cruised extensively through PNG, the Northern Territory, Western Australia, Southeast Asia, and back to Queensland.

On board you'll find a comprehensive suite of electronics, an extensive cruising inventory, and a full set of spare parts—ready to go at a moment's notice.

Beautifully fitted and well maintained, "Bunyip 1" is Australian-registered with all duties and taxes paid.

Engine modelThe engine room on "Bunyip 1" is a standout feature--purposefully designed for easy access, serviceability, and extended offshore cruising. Located beneath the main saloon, it is primarily accessed via a full-height door from the aft end of the master stateroom. Secondary access is available through a watertight door from the lazarette and a removable saloon floor panel for overhead entry. Once inside, you'll appreciate the generous headroom--over 6 feet--thanks to Nordhavn's innovative "maintenance strakes, " which provide excellent working space around the engine. The Lugger main engine is installed on centerline, surrounded by a stainless steel safety rail for added security during inspections. The dry stack exhaust system is neatly routed upward and wrapped in a custom thermal jacket for safety and efficiency. This is a true working engine room--well-lit with DC dome lighting and sealed AC fluorescent fixtures. The layout is clean, logical, and built for long-term reliability. Nordhavn's renowned keel-cooled, dry stack exhaust system is paired with a straightforward fuel management system that includes built-in fuel transfer and polishing capabilities--allowing safe use of all onboard fuel. Sound insulation is handled by lead-lined foam with perforated aluminum sheeting, creating a professional and quiet working environment. All through-hulls and fuel valves are clearly labeled and easily accessible. Additional systems include: - Naiad stabilizers with main controller and hydraulic power system - Sea Recovery 180L/hr freshwater maker - Twin Racor fuel filters plus an additional Racor polishing filter and transfer pump Whether you're troubleshooting or doing a routine walkthrough, this engine room is a pleasure to work in--solid, sensible, and built to cruise.
