True World Marine TE286
Overview
About this vessel
This 2003 True World Marine model TE286 is an ideal fishing and cruising boat for a family, a charter captain or for someone who goes fishing or cruising by themselves. Her deep freeboard, high bow rails (SS316) and sure-footed sea-keeping ability provide a justified feeling of security whether inshore or offshore. Under most conditions you can walk from the deck to the bow without feeling nervous. I have met owners who did the great loop in the 28 model.
This is a two owner vessel and much of her lifetime the boat has been under cover to protect the gelcoat and Teak. The Yanmar 315 hp turbo diesel coupled in the transom to a Yanmar ZT370 Sterndrive with dual counterrotating props has recently had the 1000 hour + service completed by authorized Yanmar mechanics in Beaufort, NC. The Yanmar engine has only 1548 hours and the Yanmar sterndrive has less than half those hours. The reason the current owner is selling this vessel is that he needs a faster boat to take his charter guests offshore 40+ miles. The gelcoat and teak gunwales are in very good condition.
The TE286 is ready to go fishing or cruising. Comes with a Loadmaster tri-axle trailer.
The helm is protected by the hardtop, tempered windshield glass with side vent windows. The design provides an excellent view to safely maneuver. From the helm you have access to the breaker panel, electronics, radio, Yanmar panel and windlass.
The deck is the most used space on this vessel. The front deck has a leaning post for handling the boat, with tackle box cabinets under the seat. You enter the vessel on either side over the teak gunwale that is very smooth. The engine box cover is connected to the transom. There is a 100 gallon passive-flow live fish tank in the deck floor between the engine box and leaning post. There are two long fish boxes that can take care of your fishing results. There a total of 19 rod holders in the deck area that you can see in the photos.
In the deck under the starboard gunwale is a 30 amp receptacle to have electricity at the dock.
There are two sets of Garmin GPSMap units: 942vs and 742xs. They are located above the steering wheel.
The Yanmar 315 turbo-diesel engine provides plenty of power for this boat. The engine connects to a Yanmar ZT370 stern drive with counter-rotating dual props. The dual props provide speed and great handling. I have heard it described it is similar to parallel parking. Very fuel efficient. The Yanmar 315 is a well respected engine around the world.
There is one head onboard located in the cabin. There is a manual flushing toilet and sink. A shower adapter is easy to install.
The hull is 100% hand-laid, solid fiberglass for strength, safety and durability. Deck and cabin structures are cored with Baltec to provide rigidity without excess weight. The deck liner is attached to the hull with stainless steel screws and 5200 Marine Sealant.
Enter the cabin on the port side of the helm. Easy accessible storage vertical cabinet upon entry; go down 2 steps to the sink/storage cabinet. Seating, eating and resting area with dinette table that can raise up or drop down with cushions so 2 people could rest or 4 people can play cards, eat or whatever. Head is immediately to the right as you step down into the cabin. There are six port-lights in the cabin and a larger hatch in the center. There are storage compartments under the three cushions.
There is no cooking equipment onboard. There is space for a microwave, hot plate, stove top, and other small appliances. The cabinet below the sink area has often been a location for a small refrigerator.
