About this vessel
What has been dubbed as possibly the best example Riviera 40 in Australia by Riviera specialists, "Hermitage" is a rare and highly sought-after example of the popular model! With many rare and brilliant features, such as a lower helm, saloon sliding windows and a variety of upgrades, this vessel is ready to throw the lines and set a course for anywhere you may choose.
This vessel has been kept to an admirable standard where no expense or inconvenience has been spared. The seller states this vessel has been continuously upgraded and maintained to the highest possible level, not for resale purposes, but to function as the perfect stress-free vessel it is. He states there is nothing on this vessel that does not function; otherwise, it wouldn't be there!
Perfect for a family or a congregation of friends, this Riviera 40 has a terrific interior layout that enables cruising in almost any conditions and for extended periods. The saloon space is large, featuring panoramic views and namely sliding side windows thanks to the rarely optioned lower helm station. NEW carpet throughout lifts the interior tremendously and creates a much more comfortable space, and modernises the vessel exponentially. It features a large settee to port with a factory-optioned carbon fibre dinette, providing enough seating for at least 4 or 5. The lower helm station is a terrific feature, enabling more comfortable cruising in less favourable conditions, plus the skipper can be part of the action with guests and family onboard and below. The lower helm is well equipped, featuring a wireless autopilot remote, a Raymarine chart plotter and depth sounder, and a variety of electronic engine telemetry and switch gear, also benefiting from the saloon smart TV, which can mirror Navionics charts. Just a couple steps down from the saloon and lower helm is a large galley perfect for extended stays on board and meal prep. The galley is well equipped, featuring a microwave, 2-burner electric cooktop, large fridge and freezer, sink and plenty of bench space and storage.
The accommodation space is generous, offering sleeping for 5 across 2 large staterooms. The master cabin is forward, featuring a large double berth with full walk-around access and fantastic storage. The guest cabin is to starboard and features a twin bunk, plus a third fold-down berth and a washing machine tucked towards the aft. The head services both cabins, while the master benefits from direct access. It features plenty of floor space with a vacuflush marine toilet, a large basin and vanity and a separate shower stall. All rooms on board benefit from ducted heating from a Webasto diesel heater, including the flybridge, saloon, both cabins and the head.
The flybridge provides incredible 360-degree views from aloft, notably enhanced by a set of NEW Plexiglass clears. NEW foam Seadeck flooring has been installed sporting Riviera branding, plus a pair of NEW helm chairs and NEW upholstery throughout the twin settees. The helm is well-equipped, featuring a Raymarine chart plotter and sounder, a bracket and charger for a tablet with Navionics, Raymarine autopilot, Sidepower bow thruster controls and plenty of electronic engine telemetry and switchgear. A small but highly functional wet/mini bar sits to port, featuring a sink and fridge to service the upper-level lounge area.
The cockpit is expansive and has plenty of upgrades and highly specified factory options. A third helm station is featured on the starboard side with engine controls, a bow thruster joystick and a Raymarine wind instrument unit. Within arm's reach of this station is a like-new cray pot hauler. A live bait tank was optioned from new and has been upgraded to now function as a fully recirculating tank to keep fish alive. Below foot is a large lazarette storage area with easy access to the steering system, plus a large kill tank on the port side with a dedicated gulper pump. Also featured is the commonly seen cockpit fridge unit and sink, below which is the main access to the engine room.
The engine room is an impressive display of the level of care and attention to detail that has gone into maintaining Hermitage. Power comes from a pair of Caterpillar 450hp diesel engines. A Cummins Onan 9.5Kva provides 240V power, although the vessel has been set up as such that only a few systems on board require it, including the oven, air conditioning and microwave with the 80 L/hr water maker running off 12V or 240V. The generator itself is in fantastic condition, featuring a NEW under tray as the originals are prone to rusting quickly. The house batteries are NEW and positioned on a NEW custom stainless-steel bracket with 810ah in total. All engines have received recent and consistent servicing, with most notably and recently all valve clearances having been done.
The decks are easy to navigate with plenty of handholds and a set of Reelax outriggers on each side. The bow features a tender cradle, plus a NEW Highfield 2.7m tender is included, while here the condition of the superstructure is apparent, having received at least bi-annual waxing at a minimum.
Hermitage is a particularly unique example of Riviera's famed 40 Platinum, not only thanks to its highly optioned factory features, but also because of its current and previous fastidious owners. This vessel is truly turn-key, ready to up and leave its berth for months on end. Everything fitted to Hermitage is in full working order with its maintenance and servicing current, having been kept to the highest standard possible.
