Grand Banks Eastbay 49

"1 Freedom 1" is an especially fine example of the Grand Banks Eastbay 49 Salon Express (SX) model, featuring the factory hard-back salon enclosure that provides a true salon finished to a much higher degree than soft-back canvas models. The space can be locked for added security and comfort.

"1 Freedom 1" has been lovingly owned and kept in tip-top form. The hull is painted with Awl Grip in San Mateo Wheat. The boat features low-hours engines with an Onan diesel generator, a bow thruster added in April 2023, a hydraulic TNT swim platform rebuilt in 2022 with a new dingy cradle from 2023, new Garmin electronics from 2024, cockpit teak decking, and both an electric grill and ice maker in the cockpit, both new in 2020. The layout is unique with a larger than standard master stateroom and office. Poseidon pleated shades are installed in the salon, all windows, windshield, and aft door from 2020.

The Salon Express version of the 49 Eastbay offers a comfortable air-conditioned or heated salon/helm area. A large L-Settee sits to port. The port bench seat raises and lowers via electric actuator and converts the settee to a sectional when lowered. The custom teak entertainment center to starboard features an electronic pop-up flatscreen TV and bar with a small stainless steel sink aft of the helm.

The galley is down 4 steps, is large U-shaped with plenty of counter space and cabinet storage. Opposite the galley is an office with desk, chair, and storage cabinets. A large teak cabinet forward with louvered doors covers a combination washer/dryer.

Down the companionway is a guest stateroom on port with twin berths and guest/day head across the hall on starboard. The master stateroom is forward with a true island queen berth. This stateroom has been enlarged and offers a large vanity/make-up area with a swinging stool. Aft is a large hanging locker on the aft bulkhead. This rare layout gives the master stateroom considerably more room than the typical layout found on sisterships. The master head is to starboard. The guest and master head share a large stall shower with teak doors going into each head from the shower, with shower curtains that cover each door when in use to keep the wood dry.

The Grand Banks Eastbay 49 is arguably one of the finest and most beautiful yachts from the boards of C. Raymond Hunt and Associates. Her design has defined the modern downeast cruiser. Graceful sheer and moderate bow flare are reminiscent of Maine lobster boats, while her modified deep-V hull with computer-designed lifting strakes represent modern underbody design. The interior accommodations are well designed and provide a bright and airy ambiance. The galley is efficient with ample storage and top-of-the-line appliances. Flawless joinery and elegant upholstery throughout have been refreshed and well maintained, and the vessel is professionally cleaned and managed. "1 Freedom 1" is modern, fast, dry, stable, and beautifully detailed, as one would expect in a Grand Banks yacht. The boat is in turn-key condition and will readily appeal to a discerning yachtsman.
