Overview
About this vessel
With their robust construction, exhilarating sailing performance, and proven track record, the Pogo 40's remain highly sought after. The wide beam and twin rudders provide exceptional stability, making these vessels easily managed for single and double handed offshore racing. All systems are designed for durability to ensure the reliability to withstand the rigours of extended offshore racing with ease. "Matrix Reloaded" is a good example of the design and has certainly proven its capability. Owned by a highly experienced sailor, it was significantly upgraded in preparation for the 2018 Melbourne to Osaka Race. No stone was left unturned in this comprehensive refit, including the addition of a NEW KATADYN POWER SURVIVOR 40E 12V WATER MAKER, FULL REWIRE OF THE 12V SYSTEM INCLUDING 400AH LIFEPO HOUSE BATTERY BANK, EFOY METHANOL FUEL CELL GENERATOR (12V), NEW DOYLES MAIN SAIL, 2 X HEADSAILS, CODE 0, AND A2, AND FULL CAT 1 COMPLIANCE. The vessel went on to finish 3rd over the line, finishing the 5,500NM race in just 34 days. Due to the owners commitments, the vessel then stayed in Japan, and has recently been sailed back to Victoria where it is currently stored on a custom cradle out of the water. Whilst some maintenance is due on the vessel before setting out on its next adventure, this racing machine offers a rare opportunity to enjoy a vessel of this capability here in Australia. Whether you want to join the growing fleets of Double Handed Offshore racing locally, or fulfil even the most ambitious sailing aspirations, this vessel can do it all with safety and speed!
On deck, the spacious cockpit is ergonomically designed for single handed sailing. All lines are lead aft to the cockpit, and the vessel is well set up with the furling headsails, furling Code 0 and Asymmetric spinnakers in socks. The instruments and navigation systems are first class with a full NKE package, B&G Chart Plotter, water proof computer with 17" screen with Adrena routing software, and Raymarine Autopilot.
Inside, the vessel is comfortably appointed with blue cushions, ideal for deliveries or racing, plus make a great space to enjoy post race refreshments. The functional galley includes a 40L portable fridge, and gimbled camping gas stove for easy meal preparation. The vessel is also equipped with a manual marine toilet.
This vessel is powered by a 30HP Volvo Diesel Engine, paired with a saildrive and folding prop. It provides easy cruising at 5 to 6 knots.
