About this vessel

Welcome to the best equipped American Tug 41 on the market. This boat shines from stem to stern and will leave you speechless. Big Red has the pride of ownership that you could only dream of when purchasing a used yacht. This yacht wasn't just well cared for, it was loved. With constant improvement this American Tug 41 has stood the test of time. If you are in the market for a trawler or tug This is a must see to put on your list.

The first impression of the American Tug is the quality of the interior. As you step into Big Red from the aft cockpit into the salon you are immediately surrounded by beautiful joinery work made from Jatoba wood. The textures of carpet and Ultra Leather are warm and inviting. These boats feel right.

The salon features large windows which flood the interior with light. You can see forward past the galley to the raised pilothouse, it is this open feel that makes the interior great for entertaining. An L-shape settee is on starboard, and on the port side is a single barrel chair w/ storable ottoman that can be moved around the salon as needed.

The galley is forward and on the port side. Entertainment center with a 26" flat screen television is on starboard.

Up a few steps to the raised pilothouse. American Tug makes full use of the large "stack", the defining feature of a tug boat, and provides ample headroom above these stairs. A beautiful Jatoba wood insert inlaid with compass rose forms the ceiling inside this stack. The pilothouse is large, open and provides full 360-degree sightlines. The console is full size and houses three Garmin 8600 multi function displays. There are sliding doors on both the port & starboard sides. The port side of the pilothouse has additional seating for 3. On starboard is an additional fridge/freezer and a dedicated hanging locker. A double Bentleys helm chair is on centerline.

Forward is the guest stateroom with a queen pull man berth and an additional upper bunk which is perfect for the extra fisherman or your guests duffel bags. The guest stateroom has a private head with full shower.

The master stateroom is down a few steps and features a walk-around queen berth, a very large private head & shower and nine full suspension drawers plus a cedar lined hanging locker.

All the spaces are heated with an Espar diesel furnace, ducted throughout the boat. There are three additional 110-volt heaters all independently controlled for keeping her warm on the dock or in the off-season as well as an OceanAire reverse cycle unit in the master cabin and Pilothouse.

The joinerwork is a warm toned Jatoba wood. Carpet is a commercial Shaw in Cinnibar. The upholstery is Brick colored Ultraleather.

When you walk into the pilothouse of Big Red, you truly see the vision of this yacht. Its simple and sophisticated. Modern with its upgrades and classic by its appearance.

Equipped with a custom Mark Tanner built radar mast with wings for all current and foreseeable electronics. The mast is built of powder coated aluminum for long-term durability and ease of maintenance, it is gorgeous.

American Tug is renowned For their manufacturing prowess. As you examine the Power management systems in this yacht, The first thing you'll notice is their care and structure. American Tugs have wonderful electrical systems that feature ABYC compliance, proper yacht cable wiring, Blue Seas electrical panels, Blue Seas smart battery combiners, AGM batteries and Magnum Energy inverter/ chargers. The system as designed by American Tug is robust and sized such that the owners do not need to fuss over consumption.

Big Red is fitted with a large chassis (big) alternator on the main engine that feeds the battery bank. There are 4ea 8-D AGM house bank batteries. Additionally she has a 2,800-watt Magnum Energy power inverter featuring a 100-amp multi-step battery charger.

Her shore power system is a 50-amp 240-volt which will enables use of the full size washer & dryer when connected to shore power or while running the Onan 9-kw genset. Glendenning power retractor for the cord is installed.

Equipped with the Cummins QSC-8.3 540HP engine with controls at both the pilothouse and aft cockpit. The large single Cummins engine delivers excellent efficiency at hull speed and the ability to run fast in "semi-displacement" at a 12-knot cruise. This is the best of both worlds!

Big Red's Twin Disc marine gear is fitted with electronically controlled Troll Valve for fishing. She has a second station in the cockpit with engine controls which allows fine tuning of the speed while tending the rods.

Equipped with an optional larger 24-volt 11-HP bow thruster and a larger 8-HP Side Power stern thruster for easy docking and incredible maneuverability even in higher wind or current. Control is at your fingertips. The included radio-remote control for the thrusters will also give you this control when you are on the docks tying her up. This was the only AT-41 with this large thruster package of its time.
