About this vessel
Blondie Hasler made long distance sailing famous in his own junk rigged yacht 'Jester' in the 60's and many have followed since.
'Wild Fox' was built under close supervision by her owner for his own single handed adventures and finished to an exceedingly high standard. The yacht has been perfectly maintained, and having sailed 50,000 nm still presents like new. Any junk rig fan will love this yacht.
The yacht won it's class in the Concours d' Elegance Antigua Classic week in 2011 and has been maintained to the same standard ever since.
In December 2021 the owner considered that the teak decks were becoming thin so he decided to completely remove all teak and replace with white grp, the job was done by AME Marine in Phuket. This has had the effect of considerably reducing the heat down below.
Entering the boat the head with holding tank is immediately to port and there is access aft for storage. The shower stall with hot water is opposite and also has access to more storage through that bulkhead. Moving forward into the boat the space afforded by the lack of side decks is very evident. 6' 4'' headroom throughout.
The centre line sinks and countertop separate the galley and navigation station. Cabinetry is excellent, deep chart drawers and many other sensible design features. Full forward the double cabin.
The interior as a whole feels spacious and comfortable. White deckheads with mahogany and douglas fir laminated beams and chrome plated brass opening ports add to the pretty mix. Central heating for those colder climes. All lighting is LED.
The galley is an excellent sea going design. A heavy duty stainless steel gas stove and oven, large top loading 12 volt fridge, deep double stainless sinks with pressurised hot and cold water at mixer tap, cold water foot pump in line, and a manual salt water galley pump.
The yacht is 240VAC with shore power inlet and cable, and 12VDC. House bank is two 220 amp batteries with a separate 80 amp engine battery. DC charging from solar panel with solar regulator, wind generator, hydro generator and engine alternator.
The engine is located under the saloon table with very easy access and simple servicing. Shaft drive with dripless seal to a Maxprop propeller. Tank range is 400nm.
Two hollow Sitka Spruce masts built by Collars of England. Varnish in immaculate condition. Two traditional terylene flat sails, 8oz by Jeckells.
