This 86' (26.21m) expedition-style motor yacht was built by Carey Shipyard in New Zealand in 2007 and designed by Richard McBride of McBride Design Ltd. With a full-displacement composite hull built on a wood core, teak decks, and Naiad stabilizers, TASMAN was made to take on rough conditions without compromising comfort.

Powered by twin Yanmar 330hp engines, TASMAN reaches a top speed of 14 knots and cruises comfortably at 10 knots with an impressive 2,400-nautical-mile range. Her shallow draft of 2.06 meters opens up access to a wide variety of cruising grounds, and while she’s not specifically optimized for The Bahamas, she’s perfectly suited for adventurous itineraries across the Pacific, Asia, or the Med. Her credentials are proven—this yacht has a history of extended passages, having already explored New Zealand, Australia, the East Coast of the U.S. and more. Everything about her, from her volume (87 gross tons) to her layout, speaks to smart, capable design tailored for long-distance adventure.

TASMAN’s exterior has that rugged, classic expedition aesthetic—clean lines, a flared bow for optimal seakeeping, and smart use of deck space. Up top, the flybridge delivers in spades: a large sofa wraps around a dining table, there’s an upper helm for those scenic cruising moments, and a barbecue area aft. The tender crane makes launch and retrieval easy, and when the tender’s in the water, the space transforms into a roomy lounging area for sun-soaked afternoons.

Inside, her layout is practical and welcoming. The main salon is surrounded by large windows, flooding the space with natural light and creating a strong connection to the sea. There’s formal dining for six, a lounge area with a comfortable sofa and coffee table, and plenty of storage for life on board. The galley feels like home, finished in black marble with wooden cupboards and stainless-steel trim, and it’s fully fitted with an induction hob, oven, and all the amenities needed for extended cruising.

Accommodation is straightforward and spacious. TASMAN sleeps up to eight guests in four cabins, with the full-beam master suite positioned aft for privacy. It’s accessed via a private staircase from the salon and offers direct access to the swim platform—something you rarely see on a yacht of this size and type. The three additional guest cabins are located on the lower deck, each with its own ensuite, and there’s separate crew accommodation for up to three, allowing the onboard experience to remain smooth and discreet.

Another standout feature is the large, stepped swim platform, which serves as a proper beach club area and makes accessing the water safe and easy—whether you’re launching a tender or just jumping in for a swim.
