Egg Harbor 43 Sport Fisherman
Overview
About this vessel
New Jersey builders have a reputation for creating seaworthy fishing boats. That heritage continues with the Egg Harbor 43 convertible. Egg Harbor challenged the Michael Peters design team to come up with a fast, dry running surface, since the company has a long history of penning topflight offshore boats. The resulting slightly concave bottom boasts prop pockets affording the 43 a shallower draft for transiting the Bahamas banks or shallow waters up and down the Eastern seaboard.
The pockets allow a narrower shaft angle. Anytime you can direct your thrust more closely parallel to the water's surface, you gain efficiency. Combine this with a moderate dead rise of 17 degrees at the transom and you can expect a smooth ride and better fuel performance.
Many offshore anglers cling to the philosophy that a smaller boat fishes better than a larger one. The Egg Harbor 43 sits in a smaller category of Sportfish. In addition to having a fully equipped cockpit with all the serious fishing amenities and plenty of room for a fighting chair, the 43 spins on a dime and is very nimble and quick to react. The cockpit has a freezer, engine room access, tackle center with freshwater sink, large fish box and freshwater and raw-water wash downs.
The flybridge features a retractable electronics console with plenty of room for your entire navigation electronics. The layout includes large helm chairs and bench seating with storage and excellent vision all around. A teak control pod with Palm Beach single levers completes the helm area. The interior throughout the vessel is a glossy-finished teak. The layout is with a settee to starboard, a U-shaped galley forward and a counter top to starboard forward of a sectional seat. Below decks features a master cabin forward with a centerline queen-size island berth, loads of storage and a cedar-lined hanging locker. The starboard guest stateroom offers a slightly smaller, full-sized berth with under bed storage, linen drawers, nightstand and another cedar locker.
This 43-footer has never been fished at all by the one owner, maintained to high standards and has very low hours.
