About this vessel
Valanta, with over $60k in upgrades over the last 4 years for a planned extended cruise that can no longer happen, is an amazing value in an extremely clean, well maintained yacht. The least expensive yacht is always one that has been well maintained with the needed upgrades already done.
The Hanse 400 was a key part of Hanse's excellent reputation and amazing growth from a mid size to larger volume yacht builder. She offers both amazing performance and a very bright, spacious interior. She has more sail area than a Beneteau 49 for example, so she is fun to sail even in light air. With a self tacking jib, a 4 line Dutchman mainsail flaking system and a UHMW low friction track, sail handling could not be easier. Construction quality is robust and much better than average. For example, the Grid and Primary Bulkheads on this model are glassed to both the hull and deck, making for an extremely strong and stiff yacht. We have sailed her offshore in 30-40 knots, and she is quietest yacht we sailed offshore, and that includes many high end yachts like our J44.
Valanta has been lightly used and regularly upgraded with a state of the art electrical system including LiOn batteries, new sails, new electronics as needed, Starlink, new upholstery on the berths, etc. She was ordered with the optional light wood interior, making her very bright inside. She has the optional large double owners berth, so you sleep feet aft and getting in and out is easy. Plus it is so nice for reading in bed or watching the large TV which can face into either cabin. The teak decks have always been protected with Semco Natural and are as new. They have never been scrubbed with harsh chemicals. This particular boat was reviewed by Practical Sailor and we are glad to share details of this review. A 5 year old survey is also available.
Her original owner mostly used her as a big daysailer. With the self tacking jib, etc, she is incredibly easy to sail. Her second owner set her up for more extended cruising and took her to the Caribbean 2x. Offshore gear like an innerforestay for a stay sail, life raft etc were added. He was planning on taking off for more extended live aboard cruising in 2024 and added gear like new electronics, a LiOn battery system with new Victron Chargers and inverters, etc. Family health issues have precluded this from happening so she is for sale.
She was sailed north to Norwalk CT from Hilton Head SC in mid Oct.
