Founded in 1996 by Roger Overell, Managing Director, Lightwave Catamarans remains as the only Australian manufacturer of production cruising catamarans. Expertly creating one of a kind catamarans, Lightwave Yachts builds to order. Every Lightwave is personally crafted for each owner.
Launched originally in 2002, the Lightwave 38 is the most refined Lightwave design. It was re-released as updated models in 2006 and 2010.
OUT OF THE BLUE is an owner version cat with the port hull dedicated as such. She is a galley down design, a very neat design galley in the starboard hull. One double cabin in the port side and two to starboard.
The fit and finish of the boat inside and out is very good, she has many good qualities, the protected helm a great asset.
Energetically prepared for sale, the boat has had plenty of new installations in 2024 including new cabin portlights, all new clears and covers, new pumps for the heads, fresh water and sea water flushing, new EPIRB plus personal locators, six person life raft in service March 2024 and more.
Entering the bridgedeck the nav station is well set out to port and close to the helmsman. Two forward facing saloon windows open for excellent ventilation. The port hull has a very spacious bathroom fully aft and midships is a small desk and distribution panel inboard and good shelf and locker spaces outboard. The double berth sleeps fore and aft and full forward is a small forepeak berth with opening port.
The starboard hull has a good double cabin fully aft sleeping athwartships, the generous galley with fridge and sink inboard and oven, countertops and lockers outboard, a good design with masses of storage. Moving forward, another double inboard and the second head full forward.
All cabins have fans and opening ports. Headroom in the saloon is 1.95m and in hulls is 2.00m.
The linear galley in the starboard hull features a SMEV 3 burner gas hob and oven, two 12VDC fridges, three portable fridge/freezers added in 2024, a stainless double sink with hot and cold water mixer and foot pumped salt water, and excellent cupboard and drawer space. A 50-60 lph 220VAC watermaker is sited in the starboard engine room.
All standing rigging was replaced January 2024 including all new terminal ends and roller swaged. The original factory rig includes a new mainsail stackpack, wind instrument, Windex, radar reflector, mast steps, and deck flood.
