About this vessel
Ko Tangaroa (originally known as Pegasus) is an Oyster 545 blue water cruiser launched in 2016, now located in the Caribbean. She has been meticulously maintained by both her former and current owners with no expense spared.
The hull is of composite moulded construction using a combination of vinylester and polyester resin with the outer topside finish in white gelcoat. The laminate material comprises a combination of EGlass, Kevlar and Carbon Fibre. The topside structure incorporates an 18mm endgrain balsa core above the waterline for additional strength, stiffness and insulation. Below the waterline the hull features a solid laminate, reinforced with a matrix of stringers and floors and is combined with BS1088 standard marine-ply structural bulkheads.
She has all the bells and whistles for global passage making, with all the extra spares needed to safely cruise the Pacific or further afield. Now on the Australian ships register, she was antifouled in July 2021.
Recent upgrades included brand new North 3Di working sails, safety equipment upgraded to meet Category 1, new computer and WiFi systems, solar panels, rigging upgrades, a dive compressor, and brand new upholstery in saloon and owners cabin.
