Overview

About this vessel

BELLA FAMIGLIA is an outstanding example of her class, and an exceptional class it is. The Back Cove 32 Express Cruiser demonstrates why these boats are in such high demand and why Back Cove Yachts of Rockland, Maine, has been so incredibly successful. The "32" was first introduced in 2016 and BELLA FAMIGLIA was built and delivered in 2018 and in many, many ways still shows and operates like a brand-new version of herself.

Standard winning features include a centerline transom door, single-level cockpit and pilothouse, convertible dinette with double forward-facing settee across from helm, bow and stern thruster, sliding side windows and overhead hatches, front opening windshield panel, stand-alone shower compartment, centerline berth, hardtop, and excellent engine room access via electric opening hatch.

BELLA FAMIGLIA also features notable options including a Volvo 435hp electronic diesel, Zipwake automatic trim tabs, two-zone reverse-cycle air-conditioning system, 7.5 kW Onan-Cummins genset, a Quick electric and mechanical anchor windlass, and a Sureshade electric cockpit awning. She also sports a superb Flag Blue Awlgrip painted hull with state-of-the-art Ceramic protection on the topsides paint and all exterior gel coat surfaces. The electronics suite includes Garmin navigation with AIS, digital HD radar and autopilot, a FLIR 232 night vision camera, and a Bluetooth stereo system.

Light seasonal usage first in New England and more recently out of the Safe Harbor Burnt Store Marina in Punta Gorda, Florida, this yacht has enjoyed indoor storage when not in use and it shows. Serviced by The Hinckley Company under current fastidious ownership, with all maintenance up to date and up to snuff.

The Back Cove 32 features interior joinery in cherry with varnish finish, cherry hull ceilings with varnish trim slats, and a teak and holly laminate veneer cabin sole in the fore cabin. Hanging lockers are cedar-lined. The pilothouse layout has the helm station all the way forward and to starboard, with guest seating to port. The galley is aft of the helm station and also to starboard. The opposite settee and dinette area converts to a double berth measuring 48 inches wide by 90 inches long without the vertical cushions in place.

The fore cabin features an island Queen berth on centerline measuring 60 inches wide by 78 inches long, with two opening ports and a Lewmar deck hatch. The Head and shower compartment features a split arrangement with the head located aft and to port and the large stall shower with built-in seat located across to starboard. The shower includes stainless cupholders and a height-adjustable cradle for hand-held shower head.

The galley is up in the pilothouse salon area on the starboard side and features a Kenyon two-burner electric cooktop, Cuisinart microwave and convection oven, two Vitrofrigo refrigeration units, stainless steel sink with cover panel, and cherry cabinetry freshly waxed and oiled.

The electrical system includes five 12 VDC batteries (two 4D ship's service, three Group 31 for engine and generator start, all new in 2023), battery charger, shore power system with two 30 AH connectors and two 50-foot cords, galvanic isolator, and bonding system with zinc transom anode. Fresh water capacity is 80 USG in two plastic tanks installed in the engine room area. The plumbing system includes pressure hot and cold water service to the galley, head, shower compartments, and cockpit shower, an 11-gallon hot water heater, three electric bilge pumps, and a shower sump pump in a separate gray water box.

The main engine room access is via an opening pilothouse deck section that is electrically operated and provides approximately 32 inches of clearance for ease of access. There is also a secondary engine room access hatch forward by the helm station with hydraulic assist. The engine room features an insulated compartment with aluminum sole plate and an access ladder.

The hull features a dark blue Awlgrip topsides finish from 2018, white Awlgrip boot stripe, gold cove stripe, and VIP resin infused PVC foam core for hull laminates and stringers. The deck features Back Cove white gelcoat finish, graystone non-skid finish, and VIP resin infused balsa core sandwich construction. Side decks measure 10 inches wide. The hardtop includes handrails and stainless steel mast for radome support.

The helm station features Seastar hydraulic steering with tilt helm, an adjustable Arrigoni Design helm seat with flip-up armrests in tan marine-grade vinyl upholstery, adjustable teak grating for foot-support, adjustable stainless steel footrests with teak steps, a Stazo wheel with wood rim and Back Cove logo, and three-section tempered glass windshield with center opening panel. The controls include electronic Volvo engine controls, Zipwake automatic trim tabs, and Sleipner Sidepower bow and stern thruster controls, along with a Ritchie binnacle compass and air horn.

The cockpit features a swim platform with recent davit system for tender, folding stainless steel swim ladder, centerline transom door, two L-settees aft in port and starboard with integral storage and striped blue and white Sunbrella coverings, lazarette access hatch with gas strut assist, two cockpit tables in cherry and maple with varnish finish and stainless pedestal, and pop-up fender ties.

BELLA FAMIGLIA is powered by the optional Volvo D6-435 Turbo-Aftercooled six-cylinder marine diesel rated at 435 HP at 3,500 RPM. The owner reports a 23 to 24 knot cruise at approximately 3,000 RPM and a top end at WOT of 27 to 28 knots. The propulsion system includes a four-blade NIBRAL propeller measuring 24 inches by 28 inches, Aquamet 2-inch stainless steel propeller shaft, PSS dripless shaft seal, 185 USG fuel capacity in one plastic tank, and Racor fuel filter.

Additional equipment includes a Quick 12V anchor windlass with chain rode and foot-control, a composite bow sprit with anchor mount and roller, Sureshade cockpit awning system with electric deployment, USCG safety gear including personal flotation devices with storage bag, fire extinguishers, and a Xintex Fireboy halon fire extinguishing system in the engine room with automatic and manual options.
