Cutwater 302 Sport Coupe
Overview
About this vessel
Wow - what an impressive and highly capable vessel. The Cutwater 302 Sport Coupe is a unique cruiser designed for serious offshore performance while still offering the comfort and versatility expected from a modern sports cruiser. For buyers unfamiliar with the Cutwater brand, these vessels were engineered in the Pacific Northwest of the United States, a region known for demanding coastal conditions. As a result, the boats are designed to handle rough water with confidence, making them particularly well suited to the conditions experienced along the Western Australian coastline.
The Cutwater 302 rides on a high-performance double-stepped deep-V hull, incorporating Cutwater's patented Laminar Flow Interrupter technology. This advanced hull design introduces controlled airflow beneath the hull to reduce drag and improve lift, allowing the vessel to plane quickly and cruise efficiently at higher speeds. Reverse chines and a stabilising keel pad improve directional stability and spray deflection, delivering a dry, controlled ride even when conditions become challenging.
In practical terms, this means a vessel that remains composed when the afternoon sea breeze builds and the run home from Rottnest Island, Garden Island or the Five Fathom Bank turns lumpy. For Western Australian boaters, this is exactly the type of hull design that provides the confidence to cruise further and return comfortably when conditions change. Powered by twin Yamaha F300 four-stroke outboards, the vessel delivers exhilarating performance with speeds exceeding 40 knots, while maintaining comfortable and efficient cruising speeds in the 22-35 knot range.
The Cutwater 302 is equally at home offshore chasing fish, with a large and practical cockpit layout designed for serious anglers. Once the fishing is done, the cockpit quickly converts into a comfortable entertaining area.
The cockpit is extremely versatile and ideal for entertaining family and friends. Forward on the bow are three flip-up hatches which convert into padded seating, creating another comfortable social area when at anchor. A rare forward telescopic boarding ladder integrated into the bow sprit allows easy access when beaching the boat or boarding from the bow.
The Cutwater 302 offers impressive interior accommodation for a vessel of this size and comfortably sleeps up to six adults across three separate sleeping areas. The interior is designed to maximise space and flexibility. The helm seat flips to become a rear-facing saloon seat, while the dining table converts to a bed when required. Passenger seating can also fold away to provide additional galley bench space.
The cabin is fully climate controlled with two reverse-cycle air conditioning systems powered by a Westerbeke generator. This allows the vessel to remain comfortable in both summer and winter cruising conditions.
Despite its size and capability, the Cutwater 302 is remarkably easy to operate, even single-handed.
