Overview

About this vessel

Presenting Happy Ours, a 2022 Beneteau Oceanis 40.1, designed by Marc Lombard with interior styling by Nauta Design. This hull blends contemporary cruising comfort with performance sailing, offering interior volumes and cockpit space far beyond typical 40-foot yachts—so much so that the Oceanis 40.1 often “feels like a 45-foot cruiser.” The design features a flared hull that remains stiff and efficient under sail, an expansive cockpit enhanced with teak decking and custom cushions, and Beneteau’s signature fully opening transom swim platform—perfect for days at anchor or long coastal passages.

Happy Ours is one of the most livable and versatile 40-foot cruisers out there. Her thoughtful layout—featuring two cabins with a forward vanity, a dedicated utility/storage room, and an open saloon—makes her ideal for couples or small families who want both comfort and sailing capability. The teak cockpit and cushions elevate the onboard living experience, while her sail plan and twin wheels ensure easy, confident handling under a variety of conditions.

Layout: 2 cabins: Owner's cabin forward with centerline double berth and full vanity; aft cabin double berth. 1 head: This is a dry head, meaning the shower area is isolated from the marine toilet. The head has double doors and can be accessed from the salon or from the aft (VIP) cabin. Storage/Utility Room: In place of a traditional third cabin, Happy Ours features an enclosed storage/utility room—ideal for provisioning, tools, gear, or systems equipment.

Interior Details: Bright, open interior with white oak finish. C-shaped galley to starboard with abundant counter space and storage. Galley features a double stainless steel sink, which helps to preserve fresh water consumption when doing the dishes. Gimbaled propane 2-burner stove and oven with electric solenoid switch. 12-volt refrigerator with both top- and bottom-loading configurations. Large saloon with U-shaped seating and table; modular layout for flexible living/sleeping arrangements. Chart table/nav station at companionway foot with ample workspace. Multiple hull ports and overhead hatches for ventilation and natural light throughout.

Mechanical: Engine: Yanmar 4JH45, 45 HP diesel, shaft drive. 772 engine hours. Propeller: Bronze 3-blade. Sleipner Bow thruster installed. Dual-zone air conditioning with reverse cycle heat. Pressurized freshwater system with expansion tank and inline filter. Hot water heater; electric shower sump pumps; electric and manual bilge pumps.

Electrical: 50A shore power inlet with cord. Battery charging systems and inverter. LED interior and navigation lighting. Panda 8000i Generator.

Electronics: B&G navigation suite with Zeus 3 chartplotters (one at each helm), GPS, depth/log, and wind sensors. B&G Autopilot with remote helm control. B&G VHF with remote handset on charging base. Fusion stereo system with speakers in cockpit and saloon.

Sails & Rigging: Deck-stepped aluminum mast with in-mast furling mainsail. With an air draft of 60' 2", the rig is Intracoastal-Friendly. Self-tacking jib standard, with furling gear. (Vessel currently configured with traditionally-sheeted genoa, but the self-tacking track is installed). Genoa fairleads (cars) can be adjusted from the safety of the cockpit. Spinnaker/Code 0 capability with optional bowsprit hardware. Rigging led aft to cockpit with rope clutches, organizers, and manual/electric winches. Harken 2-speed electric winch on coachroof (port side). Harken manual, self-tailing primary winches. Emergency boarding ladder at the stern rail.

Hull and Deck Construction: Hull: Polyester fiberglass with structural inner molding bonded to hull for stiffness. Deck: Injected foam sandwich with non-skid surface. Twin rudders for responsive helm and balanced control under heel. Both helm positions feature a folding bench and a lifting floor panel that serves as brace, when heeling. Fold-down, powered transom that becomes a spacious swim platform—a signature of the Oceanis 40.1 design. Cockpit table features folding leaves, a refrigerate compartment and storage for a life raft. Integrated telescoping swim ladder. Hot and cold freshwater shower near swim transom. Stainless steel bow fitting and roller, foredeck anchor locker, and Quick electric windlass. Stainless guardrails/stanchions, pulpits/pushpits, handrails on coachroof.
