JPK 1180 'Sunrise IV' is a racing yacht launched in May 2025, designed by Jacques Valer and built by JPK Composites. It features a high IRC rating of 1.119 and is constructed with Airex and balsa cored polyester infusion sandwich for hull and deck, providing a lightweight and strong structure. The yacht is equipped with a high modulus Hall Spars carbon mast and boom, Harken headfoil, and BSI rod rigging, optimized for offshore racing performance.
The yacht includes twin rudders with an electronic E bar adjustment system and a lead and iron Finn keel, enhancing maneuverability and stability. The deck is outfitted with anti-slip flooring and Sea Deck foam cockpit for safety and comfort. The interior is designed with custom carbon pipe cots to maximize weight outboard, cushions for all berths, a sink connected to a water tank, and a fresh water tank linked to a water maker, ensuring comfort and functionality during offshore races.
Powered by a Volvo Penta D1-30 inboard diesel engine with shaft drive and 30 HP, the yacht has a 42L fuel tank and an upgraded Mastervolt alternator for efficient charging. Electrical systems include Mastervolt batteries, C-Zone digital switching, and a Schenker Zen 30 water maker with plumbing to the galley. Electronics feature B&G Nemesis and Triton displays, MOB button, depth sounder, VHF & AIS system, ICOM M804 SSB radio with KISS grounding, Starlink with 24v supply, and a navigation computer capable of running expedition software.
Safety equipment includes fire extinguishers, fire blanket, manual and electric bilge pumps, first aid kit, foam horseshoe with drogue and light, rescue sling, throwline, emergency tiller, distress sheet, drogue, two Fortress anchors with line and chain, emergency water container, hacksaw with spare blade, wooden bung set, grab bag, hand flares, and spare VHF radio, ensuring comprehensive safety for offshore sailing.
The sail inventory is extensive and up to date, with sails from 2021 to 2025 including 3Di RAW mainsails and jibs, Aerotech and SuperLite/Kote asymmetric sails, symmetric spinnaker, furling staysails, storm jib, and storm trysail, all designed for high performance and durability in offshore conditions.
