The origins of the high-performance deep-V hull industry trace back to 1958 when Ray Hunt designed the first deep-V hull with a 24-degree deadrise, significantly reducing impact and improving ride quality. Magnum Marine, originally founded by Don Aronow and later sold in 1968, evolved under the ownership of Italian Marquis Filippo Theodoli. He introduced the concept of high-performance luxury yachts, combining race-boat speed with yacht comfort.
